'Beautiful' healthy flapjack recipe uses just four ingredients - and no sugar
Flapjacks often get stick for being the worst kind of treat.
If you're still haunted by the dry, mealy, squares you used to get in school - you may want to check out this genius recipe from foodie Ada - whose creations are all dairy-free. Her healthy flapjacks , which she describes as "kid approved", contain no processed sugar, only require four simple ingredients, and are deliciously chewy and moist.
These flapjacks are also suitable for vegans, but would work just the same if you wanted to use dairy butter. For those desiring something a little more indulgent, you can always add a layer of melted chocolate on top. And remember to let them cool down before slicing.

Method
- Preheat the oven to 160C Celsius / 320F / Gas Mark 3. De-stone the dates and soak in warm water to soften them. Blend until you achieve a paste-like consistency - you can always add a little bit of water to the blender to help speed this process along.
- Place the butter in a pan on medium heat and once fully melted, add in the dates, agave and oats. Stir everything together until fully combined.
- Line a loaf tin with non-stick parchment paper and then add the mixture and flatten it down with a wooden spoon. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and then allow to cool. Slice into rectangles (makes seven) or squares (14).
Et voila! A healthy snack that's a great addition to your kids' lunch boxes - or a biscuit-alternative to dunk in your tea. You can go mad with toppings too, such as desiccated coconut, pumpkin seeds, or even an extra drizzle of agave.
