Emmerdale's Dingles get death news as two characters prepare to leave village

Emmerdale's Mandy Dingle was left stunned on Thursday's episode as she received news of a death in the family.

During the latest episode, Mandy received a phone call from Zak Dingle where she learnt one of their uncles had died on Tuesday night. However, the Dingles were left stunned as they thought the relative had actually died years ago.

Mandy explained: "I didn't even know him! Apparently he'd been banished from the family in the 90s, I don't know why, Uncle Zak couldn't remember!" she then added that one of their cousins had kept in contact with him "on the sly" and that she needed their help clearing the house.

Later, Mandy revealed that Zak wanted some family members to go to Ireland as he was convinced there was a "fortune to be made" at the uncle's home as he was a hoarder. Mandy wanted son, Vinny Dingle, to go with Vinny joking it was like a "business trip" while she also demanded Sam Dingle go too.

Talking about the trip, Mandy warned that the uncle might have stashed cash around the house, worrying that their cousin might have already pocketed some good things. Mandy insisted they pack the van full of everything and then they will get it valued.

However, Lydia Dingle was left worried about her husband Sam leaving as she continues to struggle after being raped by Craig Reed in harrowing scenes. Viewers were horrified in recent scenes as Lydia was raped by Craig in their work office. Prior to this, Craig and Lydia had bumped into each other after decades apart, having not seen each other since they were young teens.

Craig and Lydia grew up in the same children's home years ago, where Lydia, real name Jenny, fell pregnant aged 15. Lydia gave birth alone but tragically the baby, Toby, was stillborn. Realising her baby had died, Lydia buried him in a woodland and ran away.

In recent scenes Lydia was stunned to come face-to-face with Craig all these years later, while Craig had no idea about the baby or his tragic death. Lydia explained everything to Craig and all about her fleeing, to which they shared a moment. As the pair got closer, Craig confessed his feelings to Lydia who was horrified and soon told him nothing could happen, and that she loved her husband Sam.

However, Craig cruelly ignored this and raped her, despite her telling him she did not want to sleep with him. Since then Lydia has been in turmoil and has not told anyone about her rape ordeal. Craig has denied raping her and instead claimed it was consensual. With Lydia in a bad way, Craig has begun showing up at her house and harassing her to stop her exposing what he did to her. With Sam set to go to Ireland, will Lydia be okay?
