A beachgoer has blasted the "deplorable" behaviour of a car park owner after being told to pay a £100 charge despite having had a valid parking ticket.

Stuart Watson, 54, was stung after paying £6 to park for eight hours in Cornwall, for his Volkswagen van at Sennen beach car park in August. Despite returning within the timeframe he later received a parking charge notice in the post from management company Armtrac Security Services - which manages three car parks near the popular beach.

Despite launching an appeal, the psychiatrist from Newcastle has now blasted both the management company and the landowner after it was rejected. "My appeal rejected despite me sending them a photo of the ticket which has my number plate on it and covers the time of the incident," he said.

Speaking to Cornwall Live he explained that he parked August 9 and left the windows on his converted Volkswagen open for his pet labrador. His ticket then blew over because of the breeze. He said: "My appeal was rejected despite me sending them a photo of the ticket which has my number plate on it and covers the time of the incident. To appeal it cost me £40 and there is no independent governance of them. The landowner is shamefully facilitating this deplorable behaviour by Armtrac Security Services.

"I think I'm in the right. I had a valid ticket and the parking people are aware of that and therefore I don't think I should be charged. I can either pay up despite believing I'm not in the wrong or not pay and they will continue sending threatening letters adding costs to what I owe and they either will or will not take me to court."

"If I end up in court I could a county court judgement affecting my credit score. The easiest thing to do is pay and I don't have the time and energy to fight it."

Armtrac Security Services has been contacted for comment.
