Kim Jong Un will be greeted by Vladimir Putin’s body double, not the real president, according to Russian opposition sources.

Officially, Putin, 70, has hosted a major economic forum in Vladivostok, where he made nuclear threats against Britain, ahead of an imminent meeting with the North Korean dictator. Yet several Russian opposition sources chime with Ukraine’s military intelligence in saying that the real Putin has not been seen in public for more than a year, and may be seriously ill with terminal cancer.

They hold that a doppelgänger dictator - or even several lookalikes - now replace the real ex-KGB spy at public events, while providing scant hard evidence for their theory. Tyrant Kim was seen emerging from his armoured train in Russia on his first foreign visit in four years, when he is due to conclude a deal for huge ammunition and arms supplies to bolster Putin’s war effort.

But Russian political analyst Dr Valery Solovey told mainstream opposition channel Khodorkovsky Live that Putin is seriously ill. “He [Putin] is in such a physical state that - and I am saying it very calmly - he will not make it through this autumn,”

‌“Let me stress: he [Putin] will not survive this autumn,” he said. He claimed that the real Putin - pumped full of drugs - did meet Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Russia last week.

‌But this was an exception, and most public appearances are now by one of two doubles controlled by his secret services. Telegram channel General SVR said: “Kim Jong-un does not know that he will have to communicate not with the real Putin, but with his double.

‌“But since [Kim], not without reason, is considered not a very insightful person, they decided that the double should cope. For the double, these will be the most difficult negotiations during his short tenure as ‘president’ of Russia.”

‌The channel has long claimed - offering little proof - that Putin is terminally ill. Ukraine’s respected military intelligence chief Lt-Gen Kyrylo Budanov recently insisted the real Putin has not been seen in public for more than a year.

He said: “The one, who everyone used to know, was last seen around 26 June 2022. There might be so many different reasons” why Putin is not appearing in public." Prominent Ukrainian TV anchor Savik Shuster said: “Putin will not live until the end of this year.

‌“A consilium of doctors has said that. And said it directly to Putin. The last consilium was a few days ago, and the doctors were even surprised that he's still alive.

"And in fact...he shouldn't even survive October.” Solovey — a former professor at Moscow’s prestigious Institute of International Relations [MGIMO], a training academy for spies and diplomats — said Putin is a “sadist, he hates people”.

“He feels very aggrieved by the fact that the world would go on after he’s gone,” he said. “He won’t be able to use nuclear weapons now, he won’t be allowed to.

“He would have loved to [use nuclear weapons], but his circle won’t allow him. [They] are naturally concerned about their own future.

“Therefore, he [Putin] doesn’t care. The only exception is that he enjoys seeing people suffer. We’ve got to call a spade a spade. He is a sadist, a sadist on a global scale.”

Solovey told the channel - run by respected opposition leader Mikhail Khodorkovsky, now exiled in London: “The double will be used for some time, but they won’t be able to use him for long. The double will definitely not run for elections.”

These are due in Russia in March 2024. “They will use him [the double] for some time, there is consensus about it - but not for long,” he said.

“As soon as Putin is dead, we would know about it within several hours. By ‘some time’ I mean two, three months.

“It won’t be reported by a broadcast of Swan Lake [as in Soviet times when a leader died]. No, officially this information will be hidden - but we will learn about it [Putin’s death].

“There are too many actors outside and inside Russia, interested in making this information [about Putin’s death] public.”
