Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he has at least one more job left in him when he decides he's ready to return to management.

Solskjaer has taken a break from football since being sacked by Manchester United almost three years ago but emerged as a contender to take over as the new head coach of the Norway Women's football team earlier this week.

The 50-year-old, who has also been linked with Premier League roles during his time out of the game, confirmed that he had held talks with the Norwegian FA over the vacancy but has decided against taking it on.

Solskjaer, whose daughter, Karna, plays in the first division for AaFK Fortuna, confirmed that he did not want to face the same issue as Stale Solbakken, the men's manager who named his son in the most recent Norway squad.

He did, however, tease that he felt he had more to give in the men's game before admitting he was currently happy being able to attend matches without the stress of coaching.

"They have asked," Solskjaer told NRK when he was asked about talks over the role. "But I’m not ready for that yet. I have one more job first, at least on the men's side. That is for sure. I would rather help [the Norway Women team]. I would be happy to help.

"But I don't rule it out, because I'm a football geek. But not yet. Because I'm doing so well with my family and having boys 16 and doing exactly what I want. Being able to come here and watch matches without being nervous is nice."

Solskjaer spent just shy of three years at Old Trafford after initially impressing in a caretaker capacity following the departure of Jose Mourinho. He was dismissed back in November 2021 after a chastening 4-1 loss away at Watford.

Despite his sacking, Solskjaer remains an iconic figure at Old Trafford; he plundered 126 goals for Manchester United and played a pivotal role in the memorable Champions League triumph that clinched an unprecedented treble back in 1999.

Solskjaer hinted that there could yet be another chapter for him at United at a charity event back in May. He said: "I’ve got another job in me, if it’s the right chance and exciting enough. There are so many clubs, but I’m not going to work just for the sake of working. It has to be something special, a new culture, or a club that really excites me. Or maybe they will want me back at the club [United] in some capacity, who knows?"
