Demand for train travel from the UK to France has gone through the roof ahead of the Rugby World Cup, which kicked off on Friday.

Data has revealed that travel to France from the UK has seen a 142% increase compared to the same period in 2022, thanks to the excitement around the Rugby World Cup.

According to travel experts, the best way to save money is to travel off-peak. A Trainline spokesperson said: "If you can, avoid peak times and travel when demand is lower, such as mid-afternoon and late evening. By being flexible you can save huge amounts on your train travel."

Another way is to buy a Digital Railcard - which can save 1/3 of the cost of your train ticket to France - it's also possible to buy French railcards which offer up to 30% off selected trains.

Paris is set to see a mammoth 368% increase in passengers from the UK, with Scotland set to take on Ireland in the capital on 7 th October. The same can be said for Marseille, another host city, which has seen a 15x increase in demand for rail travel from the UK, according to data from Trainline.

England defeated Argentina in the nation’s opening game in Marseille on Saturday. The increase in demand for trains indicates that all of the home nations will be cheered on by droves of dedicated fans.
