Bobby Brazier has vowed to make his late mum proud not just on Strictly but every day.

The Eastenders actor was just five when Big Brother star Jade Goody died from cervical cancer aged 27, leaving behind Bobby and brother Freddie, who she shared with ex Jeff. Bobby said: “I think she’d be proud of me for everything. I wouldn’t say this is the same kind of reality TV (as she did). I’m learning a skill. But everybody that loves me, my family, my friends, they're all really happy for me doing something that makes me happy.”

Despite having his huge smile and positive outlook, Bobby, 20, admitted he still has his down days.

He said: “No-one is always happy and stuff. I have a great relationship with myself and my practices. I feel very lucky that a lot of nice older ladies always want to take care of me. I’m always open to that!”

Bobby has already become a huge hit with EastEnders viewers after joining the soap as Freddie Slater last year. His character has tackled a number of storylines including confronting his old teacher Theo – who has since turned out to stalk Stacey Slater – and discovering how his mother was tragically raped by his father.

The 20-year-old's incredible performances so far earned him the Rising Star gong at the National Television Awards last week, which saw his dad Jeff in tears as Bobby accepted the accolade during Tuesday's ceremony. As he accepted the NTA, Bobby thanked his dad in his speech. He said: ”This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad. Over the course of the last twenty years, I have consistently heard him say 'because I can'. It was a mantra or a moto of his, and him just saying that it's... Because I can!” Bobby held back tears as his dad was spotted in the audience wipe tears away as he was supported by Bobby's co-stars.

Following the ceremony, dad-of-two Jeff took to his Instagram page on Saturday where he shared a photo alongside his youngest son Freddie. The pair were covered in mud as they had a ”mud bath ceremony”. The 44-year-old wrote a message praising Freddie as Bobby has received a lot of praise for his acting.

Jeff wrote: ”Our Bob has quite rightly received a lot of love and kindness this week but there is nobody more proud of him than his brother Fred. All 3 of us love the world of healing and conscious mindfulness so while the eldest is off into the world of Strictly Freddy & I had a great day trying new things like getting covered head to toe at this Mud bath ceremony! Wasn’t easy to get off! But I can see why people love a mud pack on their face. It felt so good to stretch when it dries on your skin and I’m sure my skin was smoother afterwards.”
