A boy who shockingly murdered five members of his family, including an infant and two young children, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release for the crime described by a judge as "draped in unmitigated evil."

Prosecutors said that Mason, then barely 14 years old, shot each member of his family in the head at their Elkmont home. The murderous act claimed the lives of John Wayne Sisk, 38, his wife Mary Sisk, 35, and three of their children: 6-year-old Grayson, 4-year-old Aurora, and 6-month-old Colson.

Mason first told authorities that he was playing video games in the basement on September 2, 2019, when he heard gunshots and ran outside to see a car driving away, but he later admitted that he had actually killed his family.

He provided detectives with information regarding a potential reason for the killings, according to an audio clip heard during a preliminary hearing.

Mason, now 18 years old, received his sentence on Thursday after being found guilty by an Alabama jury in April on several charges of capital murder for the 2019 slayings of his father, stepmother, and three younger siblings. Because Mason was a kid when the crimes were committed, he was spared the death penalty, according to WHNT.

Circuit Judge Chadwick Wise said that Mason's offense was “ghastly, disturbing, and draped in unmitigated evil” and deserved the harshest punishment allowed by law. Mason reportedly did not show a clear or visible reaction to the sentence and did not make a statement in court.

After the judgment, Brian C.T. Jones, the district attorney for Limestone County, provided a written statement to the media.

He wrote: “I’ve prosecuted a lot of people in my career, and I can tell you that out of all of those people, only four out of five people scare the hell out of me and he’s at the top of my list.”

Mason was sentenced in Alabama to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing his five family members. “Mason Sisk is clearly one of the most dangerous people who will ever be sentenced in Limestone County," Brian added.

Mason, of Alabama, purportedly menaced the entire family and had issues controlling his wrath, according to the prosecution. They said in court papers that the teenager had previously added peanut butter to coffee in an effort to harm his stepmother, who had a severe peanut allergy.

According to prosecutors, the Mason deaths were a unique instance in which the child defendant should have received an eternal prison term without the possibility of parole.
