'Entitled' wedding guest expects bride to pay her expenses just for attending
A bride was left speechless after a friend demanded that she pay her to attend the wedding. Over text, the bride's friend claimed that it was unfair of the pair to prohibit children from attending the ceremony while allowing their own children to come. So, she expected them to cover her expenses for attending the event.
The bride made an effort to respectfully explain that she would not be paying for any of the guests' babysitters and that she wanted the wedding to be for adults only. Of course, her children were an exception to the rule. Screenshots of the text exchange were eventually shared online.
"Our kids will be there. They are a part of the wedding! You should see their little outfits OMG [oh my God] sooo cute, I can't wait for everyone to see!" the bride wrote over text. Her friend replied: "How is that fair if they are going but my daughter can't come?" The bride continued: "Well, they're our kids lol. Plus we've reached capacity on the venue so we really just can't add anyone else."
Their shocking text exchange was shared on Reddit after a screenshot began to circulate on social media. The friend became angry when the bride refused to pay for her babysitting costs, claiming it was not her obligation to do so. The friend disagreed however, saying that it was her responsibility since she was inviting her but not her child. "So I have to give you money for a present, pay for my own gas to get to your wedding, pay for a babysitter, and buy an outfit? Shouldn't you be the one to pay all of this since it's your wedding?" she asked.
The bride wrote: "Well this is why we gave lots of notice for the wedding so that everyone would be able to make childcare arrangements if need be. As for giving me money as a gift, I do not expect gifts from anyone at all! You don't have to give me a gift, your presence would be gift enough! And no, your gas, dress, etc. isn't my responsibility. Like I said before, if you can't make it I'll miss you that day but I do understand."

The friend then went on to say that if she was transferred £240, she would show up to the wedding and would even bring a present. Unsurprisingly, the bride rejected this offer, saying she wouldn't be transferring her money. She then went on to say that while she was being as nice as possible, her friend was being "quite rude". In response, the friend called the bride "selfish" for choosing to let her own kids attend the wedding while refusing to pay for her babysitter. In the end, the bride decided to uninvite her friend, who was still determined to attend.
Reddit commenters commended the bride for maintaining her composure throughout the argument and criticised her friend for being "entitled." One person wrote: "That was wild LMAO. The bride is so classy here, I already would have said f***k off." Another commented: "OMG! The entitlement of some people. I can't stand people who act like everyone owes them." A third added: "People act like they are being put at gunpoint to come to someone's wedding."
