Having started the campaign with 10 points from a possible 12, Liverpool fans have got to wait another nine days before their next fixture.

The Reds have begun the season well, having beaten Bournemouth, Newcastle and Aston Villa, as well as drawing against Chelsea. In fact, Liverpool are one of six Premier League teams still unbeaten. Manchester City, Tottenham, West Ham, Arsenal and Brentford are the others not to have lost in the top-flight.

But with the international break now upon us, Liverpool are not in action until September 16 when they travel to Wolves. In the meantime, a number of Liverpool players could still feature for their countries, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is in the England squad ahead of matches against Ukraine and Scotland.

Here is the latest news from Anfield.

Kuyt on Salah

Dirk Kuyt has admitted Mohamed Salah's Liverpool legacy will depend on "which stage he leaves" as Al-Ittihad continue to plot a move for the winger.

However, time is running out for the Saudi Pro League outfit to get the deal done, with Saudi Arabia's transfer window set to close on September 7.

Speaking to BettingSites.co.uk, Kuyt said: "Salah's legacy depends on which stage he leaves. What he's done for Liverpool will always be very special, and sometimes it’s hard to predict what his departure would do to supporters.

"There are a lot of people who are not happy with what’s happening in Saudi, but the same thing happened in the 80s when Italy were spending a lot to get the best players and league.

"Then Spain did it, and then England did it. However, it’s very strange as Saudi Arabia are not a country who were competing with the best teams.

"At the end of the day, I'm the type of guy who thinks every decision should be respected. If Salah leaves, I think it would hurt a lot of fans as he’s such a good guy and Liverpool, especially now, couldn’t function at their best without him."

Aldridge's Klopp claim

John Aldridge is hoping the Liverpool owners can help and support Jurgen Klopp as the German starts to rebuild his squad - after the arrival of four new midfielders this summer.

Aldridge, who was speaking at the launch of William Hill’s first Home Shop in Liverpool, said: "We're doing a little bit of a rebuild situation, as we all know. Some big players have gone out, so you just need to trust Jurgen Klopp – hopefully the owners will give him the tools he needs.

"Some people think it hasn’t been a great pre-season with some of the signings, but it’s not that bad! You look at the two lads in midfield who have come in, in particular – Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai – and they excite me. Having said that, we all know as fans that we all need at least one more centre-half.

"Up front ,we’ve got five fantastic players and goalscorers, plus another lad who excites me as well – Ben Doak. I love watching his attitude; he’s like one of the proper Jocks who used to play for Liverpool and I think we’ll see a lot of him this season – so there’s actually six attackers there."

Jordan lets rip at Henderson

Simon Jordan has let rip at Jordan Henderson after the ex-Liverpool captain finally spoke out on joining the Saudi Pro League following his move to Al-Ettifaq back in July.

"It's ridiculous for him to say that he hasn't gone to Saudi predominantly for the money," Jordan said on talkSPORT. "I don't care if he has gone for the money or not but, the bottom line is, that's what he has gone there for.

"Jordan Henderson cannot get past the inevitable. I would much rather him turn around and say 'one of the driving factors was the money'. You're an international footballer, you're playing for Liverpool and you're going to a league that has enormous amounts of money.

"What are the other predominant reasons then? I'm sure he does care, but the reality of caring and then suffering a consequence of suggesting I'm not going to go to particular environments is not what he is prepared to do.

"I don't blame him for going there for an inordinate amount of money at whatever age he is. At the end of the day, footballers are there to enjoy their careers and if someone is foolhardy enough to pay him £400,000 or £500,000 per week, then that's on them."
