German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly emerged as a leading contender to rescue Jadon Sancho from his Manchester United nightmare.

Sancho, 23, lit up the Bundesliga across a four-year spell with Borussia Dortmund but has struggled to emulate that form in the Premier League since moving to Old Trafford in a £73million deal back in the summer of 2021.

The forward's future is currently unclear after he became embroiled in a public spat with United manager Erik ten Hag this week, with the Dutchman hinting Sancho had been dropped from last weekend's matchday squad due to his poor performances in training.

Sancho instantly hit back on social media and could now be exiled from the Manchester United team after claiming that he had been made a "scapegoat" by his manager.

Although the majority of European transfer windows are now shut, that hasn't stopped speculation from ramping up in the wake of Sancho's spat with Ten Hag, with Fichajes claiming that Bayern Munich are expected to make a move for the England star in January.

The report appears to indicate that Sancho is already aware of such interest, outlining that there have been 'rapprochements' between the German champions and the player - who previously played a starring role for Bayern's bitter rivals, Borussia Dortmund - over the summer.

Bayern are reportedly 'confident' that Sancho can rediscover the type of form that made him a huge hit in the Bundesliga before his transfer to England. It is claimed that a deal could even be done for around €50million (£42.8m).

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand hinted that there may be no way back for Sancho in the wake of his strongly-worded social media post earlier this week.

Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand predicted that Sancho may even have to consider a move to the Saudi Pro League given that the majority of other transfer windows are now closed. He said: "There's no way Jadon is putting out a statement like that if he hasn't in his own eyes performed well.

"That's the difference as well. On his chart, Jadon [might think] - 'I've trained alright', but the manager might have a different standard. There's two ways this ends. There's only one window open now and that's Saudi. Or you're on the bench or not getting in the squad for the rest of the season."
