Man Utd players' feelings towards Jadon Sancho after latest Erik ten Hag spat

Some of Jadon Sancho's Manchester United team-mates "aren't big fans" of the forward, who is under the spotlight following his response to being dropped on Sunday.

The 23-year-old wasn't even selected as a substitute for the Red Devils as they lost 3-1 at Arsenal with Erik ten Hag later commenting that Sancho wasn't picked after he deemed his training efforts to not be up to standard.

Sancho immediately hit back on social media, claiming he's been a "scapegoat" for some time, which has surprised Ten Hag and left him disappointed. The former Borussia Dortmund man moved to Old Trafford for £73m two summers ago, but has struggled to live up to expectations.

ESPN's Mark Ogden commented on the dynamics in the dressing room and stated that Sancho was not universally popular with his colleagues, who feel as though Sancho's effort levels aren't at the level they would like.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Not every player is popular with his teammates. Dressing rooms aren't always happy places and I have been told there are some players that aren't big fans of Jadon Sancho at Manchester United. If they feel his performances and commitment aren't matching up to their level, it's going to be an issue."

Sancho has only scored 12 times since returning to English shores following his time in Germany. His lack of consistency has seen him lose his place in the England squad and he's by no means a guaranteed starter for United, coming on as a sub in their opening three games before his omission in north London.

Despite that the forward, who was previously on the books at Manchester City, claimed there were others reasons behind his non-selection. He said: "Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I have been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!"

The Daily Mail has reported that Sancho's attitude has become a problem with Gareth Southgate and his staff concerned about the way the player sulks when things don't go his way. His reaction to being snubbed for a game at Euro 2020 remains a reference point.
