'Delusional' mum slammed for expecting babysitter to follow 14 requirements
While some parents turn to their family and friends when they need a babysitter for their children, others have to search for help online. But one mum has been branded "delusional" for expecting her babysitter to abide by her 14 strict requirements, including being a Donald Trump supporter.
Taking to Facebook, the desperate mum wrote: "Looking for a babysitter in the area. PM (private message) me if you're interested. Here are my requirements". Starting off, the mum wants her babysitter to have a bachelors degree in childcare or nine years of relevant babysitting experience as well as three good references.
They must be available 24/7, including on weekends, and have their own car so she doesn't need to pick up or drop off her children. Her advert continues: "Native English speaking and preferred second language to teach to my children. CPR certified. Ideally a CNA licence.
"No history of traffic tickets and no problems with the law. I will be running your name through databases. No tattoos. No drugs. No alcohol. No sketchy social media behaviour and/or public pictures." The babysitter must be happy to work around her two pit bulls as well as respond to last-minute emergency calls.
"Perfect attendance 100 per cent is required. Willing to pay for some snacks. Will love to work with an infant, three-year-old and a five-year-old. Ideally will be a Trump fan," the advert reads. In exchange for their flawless service, she is willing to pay $10 (£7.89) "under the table in cash", which she says is like "making $15 (£11.83) an hour normally but without paying tax".
Mum's touching gesture to young son who died leaves Morrisons shopper in tears
Commenting on her post, which has resurfaced on Reddit, one user said: "For $10/hr I will come over to watch your TV and eat your snacks. Expect to return to alive children... that's it." Another user added: "Nine years experience is very specific! I would be worried about someone who had the degree and/or experience but was still willing to graft for $10 an hour."
A third user said: "I thought she meant she'd be willing to pay for the babysitter's snacks. I was like well I guess that's nice, then I realised she meant the babysitters would be paying for snacks. Lovely." One more user added: "I’ve seen these ads before in New York but they’ll pay you $60k-80k per year and other perks. Essentially you get paid to raise someone else’s kids. A friend of mine did this and one of the requirements was also having a degree at an Ivy League (she did). She was able to stay at their summer home whenever and got to go to Paris Fashion Week."
