Katherine Ryan fumes as her daughter, 14, is 'sexually harassed' by grown men
Katherine Ryan said her 14-year-old daughter is being “sexually harassed” on a regular basis by grown men.
The comedian, who recently celebrated her 40th birthday, spoke about a recent unnerving incident in London, which left her teenage daughter Violet feeling uncomfortable. Katherine, who is also mum to son Fred, two, and daughter Fenna, eight months, revealed her eldest child was on the receiving end of unwanted male attention while out and about with her cousins on a trip to the capital.
Speaking on her Telling Everybody Everything podcast, Katherine was “p***ed off” after Violet and her cousin Lily, 16, had their sweet day trip ruined by a “gross” man on public transport, and said they had been “sexually harassed by grown men everywhere they went.” While the Canadian-born star was hesitant to share details of her teenage daughter’s private life, Katherine wanted to talk about the incident because it was so disturbing – and was an example of what her daughter and Violet's cousin had faced regularly.

They’ve been out in the day; they’ve been out on the train just doing very wholesome activities. Shopping, going to a theme park, doing this and that. And everywhere they go, every day, they have been sexually harassed by grown men,” she fumed. Katherine went on to state there was “no mistaking” her daughter’s age. “She’s 14, she has braces on her teeth. Anyone looking at these girls, no one is mistaking them for being adult women,” she continued.
Blasting the strangers sexually harassing the girls as “sick freaks”, Katherine revealed Violet had shared details of the troubling incident on Snapchat. “There was a man in the middle of the day filming them on the underground. Just a man on his own who got his phone out and started filming these girls sat opposite them,” the mum-of-three stated. “I won’t go into all the incidents because I want to talk about Violet less and less publicly because I do think she’s entitled to privacy,” Katherine added.

The former Mock the Week star is also mum to Fred, two, and Fenna, eight months (Instagram)Back in 2020, the Celebrity Gogglebox star took to social media and told her followers she was left red-faced after they had parked next to a man masturbating in a public car park. During the Covid lockdown, Katherine took Violet for a picnic while sitting in the car, and had to try and explain what was happening to her bemused daughter. “Took my daughter for an enchanting parking lot picnic. The man in the car next to us was jerking off,” she wrote.
The comedian then posted a series of videos showing her conversation with Violet, as she tried to convince the teenager the man was just upset. “He was just crying, Violet,” Katherine said. “No he was not… Why was his hand in the under zone then? In the underworld?”, her daughter replied. “Because he's sad about lockdown and he came to the parking lot to cry, and he was reaching for... Maybe a poem?”, she stated, while trying not to laugh.
