Woman's perfect Tinder date with 'The One' shattered by five devastating words
People turn to online dating to find a perfect love story with apps such as Tinder. But the endless swipes, fake profiles, and being ghosted on the first message can make it seem impossible to find the one. However, there may be that certain person who gives some of us a small glimmer of hope, and it can start from that perfect first date.
For one woman, this was exactly the case. Back in 2018, Alita Brydon got home in the early hours after a brilliant night out with her match, she was lying in bed and thought he was 'The One'. The pair lived two hours apart from each other and had been exchanging "personal, intimate, yet so mundane" messages for a while, but found it tricky to arrange a meeting. Most days, they talked about films they loved, and exchanged step-by-step photos of the meals they prepared for dinner in the evenings.

Writing for MamaMia, Alita said: "I saw him confidently approaching me, striding past the Asian grocer, the dingy Chinese takeout. Without saying a word he laid his lips on me, laid his palm on my lower back and kissed me. It was happening. Everything was coming together."
But the next day, Alita awoke to a dreadful message on her phone. Expecting a read a warm text from her date, she instead discovered a devastating five-word message from another woman. It said: "Stay away from my boyfriend."
Alita was completely shocked - she had accidentally become the other woman. She responded to the message and said she didn't know who she was, and the woman quickly explained everything. Alita found out he had been dating her shortly after they matched on the app.

And I would do anything to undo hurt caused to the woman I upset. But I did not know. So, all I can take from the experience is a piercing and cold lesson. Be careful who you trust."
