If you've ever had a dream that involves your hair falling out, you've probably woken up in the morning feeling confused about what it actually means - as well as feeling relieved that you do still have hair, no doubt. Dreams are often a bit weird and can be unique to the person, but dreaming about hair loss is quite common. So what does it all mean?

According to dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg, your hair holds a lot of meaning to the dreaming mind, as it represents thoughts, ideas, and beliefs, as these all sprout from the head just like your hair. So, when you dream of losing hair, it can be a sign that you're shedding old beliefs or have run out of ideas.

Lauri explained to Romper that dreaming about hair loss can signify that you're at a crossroads in which you have to make a decision, or that you're at a loss about how to handle or proceed with a certain situation. And in some circumstances, it can even mean a loss of confidence in yourself.

She said: "Less often, whatever is going on with your hair in a dream can be connected to pride, vanity and sense of appearance. In this instance, losing your hair would indicate a loss of confidence, concern over losing your good looks or perhaps even shame."

However, according to another dream analyst named Adora Winquist, dreaming about your hair falling out can also mean a "loss of control in your life", which is a sign you definitely shouldn't ignore, as it could begin impacting your mental health. The expert suggested asking yourself if there is anything happening in your life that you feel you cannot stop, as this could be the cause of your hair loss dreams.

Giving an example, Adora said that if you've been dreaming about your hair falling out and you've recently had a baby, then your dreams might be telling you that you're struggling with feeling as though you've lost your freedom.

Meanwhile, we also recently shared what dream analysts think about dreams in which you cheat on your partner. Thankfully, they usually don't mean you're unhappy in your relationship and want to cheat, but are actually a sign that you feel guilty about something in your life.

Another reason could be that your dream is trying to tell you that you're cheating yourself - either through not being truthful to your core beliefs or to your principles. People who are not fully committed to their diet or workout regime, for example, have had cheating dreams.
