This Morning's Alison Hammond has revealed Eamonn Holmes' touching speech during her mum's funeral after her tragic death in 2020.

The 48-year-old TV presenter was left devasted after her beloved mum Maria tragically died in February 2020 following a battle with liver and lung cancer. Alison shared how her former co-star Eamonn delivered a "lovely" monologue and admitted her mother was 'obsessed' with the GB News host before her death.

Speaking to Gyles Brandreth on his new Rosebud podcast, which is released on Friday, Alison said: "We gave her the most beautiful funeral. Even Eamonn Holmes came to that, actually. He did a speech, because my mum was obsessed with Eamonn Holmes and I asked him if he'd come. He did a speech, came to the funeral, which was lovely."

Earlier this year, Alison, who is set to co-host the new series of The Great British Bake Off, became tearful when she realised it had been three years since her mother had passed while she was hosting This Morning.

Sat beside Dermot O'Leary at the time, the duo were speaking to callers about their superstitions during a segment with therapists Nik and Eva Speakman, when a viewer asked advice on coping with the 13th, a date they associated with trauma. It was then that Alison had suddenly remembered the significance the date held in her own life.

She said: "I’ve just realised it’s the 13th of January, today isn’t it? This is the date my mum passed away in bed 13. And we buried her on February 13th. It’s just literally come to me. And we did it on the 13th because I thought, 'Why not?' So I don’t associate [the 13th] with anything bad. And it was a lovely funeral. It’s literally just come to me. Sorry."

On the two-year anniversary of her mum's death, Alison posted a sweet tribute to Maria on Instagram, where she posted a snap of her during her younger days. She captioned the snap with: "Mummy Two years today you left me and the pain has never left my heart . I love and Miss you sooo much . I hear and feel you all the time . My Angel Maria."

Recently, the Big Brother star told The Mirror she is finally ready to settle down, as she opened up about her dating life. She said: “I think as soon as I hear the word marriage, I get cold feet. I think I’m just one of those people. I always think there’s something better but get a bit nervous to know ‘that is it’. “I just feel like I’m tied down and I don’t like it, when really and truly I’m getting to that age now where I think, ‘Alison, let go – it’s OK to settle down’.”
