Jada Pinkett Smith has opened up about the writing process behind her upcoming memoir, as she said it's been "emotionally taxing" and "technical".

The 51-year-old is set to release her book, Worthy, on October 17 and has teased fans about what it involves. Taking to Instagram on Thursday, she said: "I wanna start sharing some of the process with you that it took to write this book.

"Not only has it been emotionally taxing, but it's really technical. It's technical to write a book." The Red Table Talk host then paid tribute to her editor Carrie Thornton and co-author Mim as she thanked them for their efforts.

Jada urged her fans to stay tuned as she promised to share more details about her writing process. She also revealed what books she will be reading this year.

Jada started writing Worthy back in December 2021, before her husband Will Smith controversially slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars Award ceremony. She said she wrote the book to take responsibility for her story.

"It was just like, the idea of being willing to take full responsibility for my story, through and through. And doing it with grace and love. For myself and for others," she told People.

Jada said she was encouraged to write her memoir by "so many people" and described the book as "divine advice". She said the title came because it took her a while to accept that she was "worthy" of being published.
