Lidl has urgently recalled Paw Patrol snacks sold in its stores after customers complained a link on the product packaging took them to an explicit website.

The discount supermarket announced it was pulling Paw Patrol Mini Biscotti and Paw Patrol Yummy Bakes after the web address on the packaging was "compromised". In its recall notice, Lidl said the URL on the back of the packaging was directing customers to a site that was "not suitable for child consumption".

According to reports by The Sun, the URL in question directs customers to a pornographic website. Lidl has confirmed to The Mirror that it is aware of the URL on the packaging.

In a statement, Lidl told the Mirror: "As soon as this was brought to our attention, we immediately launched an investigation with the supplier that owns the URL and withdrew the item from sale. As a precautionary measure, we have also issued a public recall."

Lidl confirmed that the manufacturer of the Paw Patrol products is a company called Appy Kids Co which, according to an article from The Grocer from 2018, is owned by parent company Appy Food and Drinks. This company now appears to trade under a different name and when contacted we were told they do not distribute the Paw Patrol products in question.

Information listed on Companies House shows Appy Food and Drinks was dissolved in 2022. Lidl appeared to not be the only retailer who sold the recalled products in question.
