A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby was tragically found dead on Tuesday night.

The tot's body was discovered in the London borough of Havering last night, sparking an investigation. The force attended the address in Mimosa Close at around 7.40pm yesterday. Police said the death was being treated as unexpected and remains under investigation.

They were called to the residential property following concerns about the baby’s welfare. Officers made the heartbreaking find. Locals reports suggest a man and a woman have today been arrested.

The Met Police said in a statement that the arrest was made following the discovery in Harold Hill yesterday. Police remained at the scene this morning and investigations are continuing.

The Met said that the pair remain in custody. "A man and a woman have been arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder in connection with this incident; both remain in custody."

Today, the area around the flat block where the body was found has been cordoned off, with officers in patrol cars guarding the scene. Teams in forensic outfits have been seen entering the building, while officers also spoke to members of the public near the scene.
