Boy, 11, dies after ‘falling off scooter’ at skate park

An 11-year-old boy has tragically died after he reportedly fell off his scooter in an area near to a skatepark.

The incident took place near Tidworth skatepark, police confirmed, and emergency services raced to the scene on August 18. The ambulance rushed to the Wiltshire skatepark shortly after 8pm. Despite the best efforts of paramedics the youngster, understood to be called Jakob, died at the scene.

Wiltshire999s reported that the accident came about after he fell off his scooter and a number of youngsters were crying around the scene of the tragedy. A large cordon was erected as police dealt with the incident.

A skate event due to be held at the skatepark was cancelled following what happened. In a statement, Maverick Skateparks said: “We are very sorry that the Tidworth Skatepark Jam has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. We know this is disappointing news, and we apologise for any inconvenience it may cause at such late notice. We hope to reschedule the event for a later date with the Council. Thank you for your understanding.”

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police told the Mirror: "We were called by the ambulance service shortly after 8.15pm on Friday night (18/8) to St Andrews Road in Tidworth following a report of an incident involving an 11-year-old boy. The boy was treated by paramedics but sadly died. His family are being supported by our specialist trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time."

A spokesperson for the local town council told The Mirror: "The Town Council as a whole are absolutely devastated by this tragic event and their thoughts are with the family at this sad time."
