King Charles' long-running feud with Prince Harry has "humanised him", and he knows "what side the public has come down on", a friend of the monarch has said.

The Coronation was the first time Harry came face to face with his family since the release of Harry's controversial memoir Spare. In the explosive book, the Duke of Sussex accused his older brother Prince William of physically attacking him during a heated row.

He said that Charles later sounded "like an old man" as he begged his sons to make peace. And he also claimed that Charles would joke with him about whether he was his “real father” after rumours Princess Diana had engaged in an affair.

Harry further claimed that after Charles and Diana divorced he and William begged their father not to marry Camilla, fearing she would become their “wicked step-mother." At the time, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace remained steadfast in refusing to comment on the book's allegations.

A friend who the King asked for advice told The Sunday Times: "He has done the right thing to rise above it and carry on with the work of the monarchy, which provides a welcome and stark contrast to what happens on the west coast of America. It’s all very sad, but it mirrors what happens in a lot of families, so it humanises him.

"What’s clear is the side the public has come down on, and that’s reassuring to him." The comments come after a royal source claimed that Charles and Harry could meet for peace talks as early as next month.

The Duke of Sussex is due to fly back home to California via London when the Invictus Games ends in Germany. Both the King and Harry will be in London, meaning the pair could meet in hopes of mending tensions within the family.

A palace source said that Charles will return from Balmoral in the middle of September and isn't expected to travel to France until September 20. Staff are reportedly drawing up plans for the pair to meet for talks on September 17.

The source told OK!: "King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September which ties in with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Dusseldorf. The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on September 20 so has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak."

If the pair do meet, it would be the first time they would have seen each other since Charles' coronation in May. However, it would be the first personal meeting between father and son since Harry's memoir was released in January. It comes as the trailer for their new Netflix documentary called Heart of Invictus has dropped and is set to be about Harry's inspirational Invictus Games.

Meghan, 42, will host the 'Lifestories Scene' segment, which provides insight into the bravery and resilience of the injured servicemen and women competing. She's expected to give a "poignant" contribution and serve as a testament to the games' ability to transform lives, organisers reportedly said.

The Netflix docuseries will become available on the streaming platform from August 30. The show was one of the first to be announced after the Sussexes signed their multi-million dollar deal with Netflix but it is just coming to air almost three years after the contract was signed.
