The very first dramatic teaser has dropped for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's latest project with Netflix - and it includes Harry making an emotional speech about family.

The trailer for Heart of Invictus - a docuseries about competitors taking part in Harry's inspirational Invictus Games - has confirmed it will become available on the streaming platform from August 30. The Paralympic-style games for injured and sick military personnel and veterans was founded by Harry in 2014.

The show was one of the first to be announced after the Sussexes signed their multi-million dollar deal with Netflix but it is just coming to air almost three years after the contract was signed. The trailer for the show starts with a speech by Harry that he gave at the opening ceremony of the games last year in the Netherlands.

It then cuts to footage of some of the competitors training for the event and focuses on some of the competitors talking about their own experiences. It even shows one Ukrainian coach on a video call talking about the war in the country as shelling can be heard in the background.

Footage from the games is then shown alongside Harry giving a speech where he says: "If your goal was to make your country proud, you've done it. If your goal was to make your family happy, you've achieved it. You are people of substance, of resilience, of strength, you have the heart of Invictus." The show will follow the stories of six Invictus competitors and Harry has been it's executive producer.

Meghan and Harry signed their lucrative deal with Netflix after dramatically quitting the Royal Family in 2020. It is unknown exactly how much the deal is worth but it has been reported it could be worth $112million (£88,000). Their biggest hit to date on Netflix has been their own docuseries in which they levelled criticism at their treatment by the royals.

There had been claims that the streaming giant wanted Harry and Meghan to come up with "more great ideas" if they wanted to take home $50million (£40million) in outstanding fees. However, Netflix has denied the rumours. "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date," a Netflix spokesperson said.

The trailer for the show comes just a week after Harry said he "can’t wait" for the next Invictus Games in Germany next month, vowing the 2023 tournament will be the best yet. Harry, in a video message to competitors marking one month to go to the event in Dusseldorf, wished the teams good luck and described how everyone is on a continual “healing journey”.

Singer Rita Ora was meanwhile announced as a headline act for the Invictus closing ceremony on September 16. Harry said in his video message: “I can’t wait to see all of you and have the whole community together once again. It’s been too long.”

He added: “You’re all on different parts of your healing journey. We all are, we always will be. But I can assure you that this experience you’re gonna have will hopefully be life changing, and you’ll come out of it a better person for sure.”

Harry, who will travel to Dusseldorf where the Games will begin on September 9, said: “Thank you for your service. Thank you for your commitment, your determination getting to this point… We’re gonna have a lot of fun. He added: “It’s gonna be the best games ever – best games yet.”

Twenty one nations, including newly added entrants Colombia, Israel and Nigeria, will take part in the paralympic-style games for injured and sick military personnel and veterans, which was founded by Harry in 2014.
