Christine McGuinness admits she's 'smiling when she wants to cry' amid divorce
Christine McGuinness has admitted she's "smiling when she wants to cry" amid her divorce from estranged husband Paddy McGuinness.
The mum-of-three has addressed her ongoing divorce as she took to Instagram to tell followers how she is coping and clearing up false reports about their friendship. The star shared a post where she spoke about celebrating her ex Paddy's birthday with their children on Tuesday following the Top Gear host turning 50 on Monday.
After explaining how she was in the country for her ex's birthday and spent time with him at their family home, Christine signed off her statement on Instagram Stories saying: "Yours sincerely, Just a mum doing the best she can whilst living with her ex going through a divorce smiling when she wants to cry and juggling the school summer hols."
The Real Housewives of Cheshire star, 35, split from Paddy, 50, last year after 15 years together as a couple. The pair have since remained on good terms and still live together with their children; nine-year-old twins, Leo and Penelope, and six-year-old daughter Felicity.

The day after his 50th, Christine said she "spent Patrick's 50th at home with him and our children". After clearing up the "false narrative" that she wasn't in Cheshire, she went on to write: "Patrick is my ex, my ex of well over a year, (let me just remind you, I did not cause the breakdown of our marriage) I've never spoken about this fully. I will also remind everyone that I am not silenced and will speak if/when I choose to. I got him a birthday cake, presents and made cards with our children. I done this for our children to celebrate daddy birthday."
She went on to explain that as well as spending time as a family, Paddy "celebrated separately with his friends on various different holidays over the last few weeks". Paddy and Christine announced the end of their 11-year marriage via a joint statement in July last year. They said they would continue to live together in their family home.
At the time, the couple shared a lengthy statement that said: "We hadn't planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify. A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus was as always is to continue loving and supporting our children. This was not an easy decision to make but we're moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We'll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together."
The joint statement continued: "We hope this now draws a line under anymore unwanted and unnecessary intrusion into our private life. Although we work in the public eye we ask kindly if you could respect our wishes for privacy on this matter. We'll be making no further comment."
