JLo and Ben Affleck's 'tension' over double dates with his ex Jennifer Garner

Going on a double date with your ex is sure to cause some tension, especially if you're Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.

The Hollywood couple first started dating in 2002 but broke up in 2004 before reconciling in 2021. Between those 17 years, both got married to other people, Jennifer to singer Marc Anthony in 2004 and Ben to actress Jennifer Garner in 2005. Both marriages ended in divorce in 2014 and 2018 respectively. J-Lo and Ben got engaged in 2022, 20 years after their last engagement. The two tied the knot in Las Vegas in July of that year.

Jennifer Garner is currently dating businessman John Miller, who she met in 2018, and it seems like the couple is quite keen to have a double date with her ex-husband and his new wife.

"Ben gets on great with John and has suggested couples' date nights to him and Jen, which they are both down with. But J-Lo turns it down flat every time," a source told Closer magazine. "She's told him it's bizarre and offensive that he keeps pushing the idea when she finds it so uncomfortable."

Together Jennifer Garner and Ben have three children, Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11. Despite the divorce, the two co-parent amicably, and have even recently been photographed hugging in Italy. About his parenting relationship with his ex-wife, Ben said in 2020: "Both of us really believe that it's important for the kids to see their parents respect one another and get along."

But J-Lo seems to be a bit hesitant to spend time with Ben and his ex-wife and her partner. "Ben doesn't understand why J-Lo won't give Jennifer and John a chance - he thinks it would be a lot of fun and great for the kids," the source said.

"The situation touches a raw nerve for him because it's J-Lo telling him who he can and can't be friends with," the source continued, "He hates how they come across as anti-social when they turn down invites."

Things did seem good between the couple a few weeks ago when Ben threw J-Lo a party for her 54th birthday in July. But it's been claimed in recent months that the newlyweds aren't in their honeymoon phase anymore and have been experiencing tension in the relationship, and this might be the newest hurdle. The source stressed: "It's an issue that's not going away."
