Virgin Media is offering a free broadband speed boost to anyone who lives with an O2 customer. Yes, really.

If you're living in a home connected to Virgin Media broadband with a family member, partner, friend, or fellow flat-sharer with an O2 contract – everyone will unlock a slew of new benefits at no extra cost, including double the 5G data, broadband speed boost, and even free Wi-Fi.

To qualify, households will need one person signed-up with a Virgin Media broadband plan and another with a monthly plan from O2.

  • Get double the phone data, a broadband boost and speedier Wi-Fi all for FREE

The bonus comes as a result of the multi-billion merger between Virgin Media and O2, which took place back in June 2021. In fact, the majority of the deals featured in our round-up of best 2023 Virgin Media offers include a plus for O2 customers.

Although it's been around for a little while, it's likely that thousands of households are completely unaware that this deal exists – especially if you've recently switched to Virgin Media broadband, or forgotten about an O2 pay monthly deal you've had for years.

This little-known deal could save you hundreds of pounds each year.

If you qualify, Virgin Media will upgrade your broadband speeds to the next tier. For example, those who pay for download speeds of 125Mbps will see a bump to 250Mpbs for free. O2 customers will benefit too, unlocking twice as much mobile data (at no extra cost), so those who pay for 30GB will get a boost to 60 GB of 5G data each month.

Finally, Virgin Media and O2 customers will also qualify for £100 back towards Virgin Media's Wi-Fi pods.

It's a huge saving, but what do you need to do? To claim money on the deal households either need to have one O2 pay monthly customer and one Virgin Media broadband customer.

If not, existing O2 pay monthly customers can sign up for a Virgin Media broadband package (to benefit from quicker speeds for instance) or live with a registered broadband account holder - as long as your addresses are the same.

The last and final option is that Virgin Media broadband customers can register for a separate O2 pay monthly plan or live with at least one registered O2 pay monthly customer.
