Strictly's Zara McDermott shares 'dream job' with Sam Thompson's 'nemesis'

Zara McDermott has revealed she has her sights set on working alongside Roman Kemp on The One Show.

The former Love Island star who has since turned her hand to presenting has presented a string of documentaries for the BBC. Her presenting roles have also landed her an NTA nomination for Zara McDermott: Uncovering Rape Culture.

But now the star who is set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing has her eyes set on another major programme as she edges further away from reality TV. Zara, 26, has shared her ambitions to present the BBC programme The One Show which airs on weekdays, as well as who her dream co-presenter would be.

During an appearance on boyfriend Sam Thompson and pal Pete Wicks' Staying Relevant podcast, Zara said: "Do you what, one of my dreams is to like do The One Show – one of my dreams!" Sam interrupted and joked: "Well my nemesis has already beat you to it, Roman Kemp is already there so..."

"I'd love to host with Roman," explained Zara as Sam responded: "Oh, f***ing sweet." Pete went on to tease his best friend saying: "I think you and Roman would be brilliant together. I genuinely think you'd be so good together because you're both quite intelligent, you would look great together on the sofa."

But as Sam appeared to be getting annoyed, Zara clarified: "He said it wind you up, Sam." Despite Sam joking that Roman is his "nemesis", he went on to share a story about an encounter he had with the Capital FM Breakfast Show host.

He said: "We're actually going to get him on this pod, he wants to come on, he was so lovely, we met him at the podcast show. He literally said to me, he went 'So apparently I'm your nemesis' and you know when someone says it to your face? And you're just like 'Well I can't just back out now because 'Yes you are, Sir!'"

Zara recently made TV history as she became the first Love Island star to appear on Strictly Come Dancing. Sharing the news on BBC Radio 1's Going Home with Vick (Hope) and Jordan (North). She said that she was "scared" but "excited" to take on something "so far out of her comfort zone". She said: "I've been rewatching last year's in detail, analysing everything, every dance.

"I'm scared, scared but excited. There is gonna be challenges with everything. I'm excited for the slower stuff. It's such a far cry from my day job… This is live, you cannot make a mistake. You get one take and one take only. This is so far out of my comfort zone."
