Inter Miami's Robert Taylor has struck up a close relationship with Lionel Messi but it appears that he is equally impressed with another new recruit.

It is fair to say that the arrival of the Argentine icon at DRV PNK Stadium has had a transformative effect for the Herons. Following their previous MLS struggles, a flurry of blockbuster reinforcements have spearheaded the team's charge towards Leagues Cup glory.

Despite the fanfare surrounding the impact of Messi at Vice City, the form of Finland international Taylor cannot be overlooked either as Miami moved a step closer to a first ever trophy. After notching again versus Charlotte FC in the Leagues Cup quarter-finals, the former Lincoln City man has four goals in his last five outings in the tournament.

The humble 38-year-old's stock has never been higher but it is clear that he is fully appreciative of the hard work put in by his teammates at the other end of the pitch as well. After registering a clean sheet in the 4-0 victory in the last eight, he particularly reserved praise for new signing Sergio Busquets.

Speaking to Apple TV following the win over Charlotte FC, Taylor said: "We just focused on keeping a clean sheet. I knew we'd score goals. I knew we'd create chances to score so it was important to keep a clean sheet."

Describing the four quality traits that the Catalonian has brought to the Miami side, he said: "(Busquets) brings so much quality into the midfield and when we build up the game from the back, his quality and his vision is amazing. I've never seen anyone with so much calmness and, the way he's relaxed on the ball under pressure, it's amazing."

Of course, Busquets arrived alongside megastar Messi at South Beach this summer and has been an unsung presence in midfield, bringing some much-needed steel as well as exhibiting an extensive passing range. The Spanish legend was happy as as part of the supporting cast to the superstars at Camp Nou and it appears that he is happy to fulfil that role once more in Miami.

The 35-year-old maestro also spoke to Apple TV and provided some intriguing insight into the thought process of the Herons' players during the game. The 143-time international is known for his intelligence on the pitch and it was clear that he was pulling the strings as the team saw out a comfortable victory.

After booking a semi-final place, Busquets commented: "We had a great start, an advantage of two goals. We relaxed a little bit once we had that advantage. The game became a little bit more back-and-forth but we came strong in the second half and extended that lead."

The former Blaugrana hero added that he is enjoying being reunited with his former Barca teammate and good friend Messi saying: "We played with each other for a very long time together, but it's beautiful to play together again and we understand each other very well on the field."
