Strictly's Zara McDermott plans to be 'sexiest ever contestant' with bold looks
Zara McDermott is reportedly wanting to take home the title of Strictly Come Dancing's sexiest contestant as she competes to win the Glitterball trophy.
The former Love Islander, 26, is already set to make show history as the first-ever contestant from the ITV2 dating show to join the iconic BBC dance programme. Yet she is wanting to take it one step further and take the title of "the show’s sexiest star yet". The BBC documentary was announced as the seventh star joining this year's line-up.
Zara has been working with the BBC for a number of years now, having fronted a string of successful documentaries on important topics including revenge porn, rape culture and disordered eating. A source said: “Zara knows she is the glam girl in this year’s cast and is up for the challenge of being the show’s sexiest star yet.

She'll have the backing of boyfriend Sam Thompson“Zara is out to prove what you wear has nothing to do with your work or your intelligence, so owning the Strictly wardrobe is just part of that," they told The Sun. Strictly broke their own rules as they signed up the former Islander, as they had previously avoided reality TV stars. However, her stint on the show was announced on BBC Radio 1, where she joined the station's Going Home with Vick and Jordan to share the exciting news she was heading for the Strictly dancefloor.
She confessed she was "scared" but "excited" to take on something "so far out of her comfort zone". Zara said: "I've been rewatching last year's in detail, analysing everything, every dance. I'm scared, scared but excited. There is gonna be challenges with everything. I'm excited about the slower stuff. It's such a far cry from my day job… this is live, you cannot make a mistake. You get one take and one take only. This is so far out of my comfort zone."

The reality TV star added: "I am so excited to be joining the world of Strictly! I grew up watching it every year with my nan and she was the biggest Strictly fan. We would dance around the house and I have such fond memories of that time in my life. I even remember the first-ever series, and being mesmerised by all the beautiful dresses! I can’t wait to throw myself into this experience and start training. It’s going to be incredible."

She recently opened up on their relationship to The Mirror, saying: "We have a very normal relationship, we just make funny videos and that's the thing we do for fun. I think we've been together too long now to feel any kind of pressure, I was thinking back to my relationships before Love Island, it's very different. Everything is private, nobody knows anything about what you're doing and all of a sudden, it's this weird paradox life where everything is online all the time but we both really enjoy it. So for us, there's no pressure at all."
The pair like to show off their fun side and have just taken part in a hilarious promo shoot for Domino's as they tested out a ‘Big Dip’ Plunge Pool. Sam could be seen donning a Garlic & Herb Dip inspired bikini as the pair jokingly played around in a garden, with Zara opting for a classic shirt and shorts combo. The Made In Chelsea star joked: "It’s also safe to say, we can’t trust the British weather but what I do know is I might just be the hottest thing going now, and I’m pretty sure Zara would think so too after seeing me in that bikini.”
