Woman who got tattoo dedicated to her local butcher insists she's 'not crazy'
Tattoos are a personal thing to everyone individually. Whether you opt for something small and personal, something big and bold or something a little more sentimental to you- everyone's opinions are different. What might be amazing to one may not be to another's taste.
However, one woman has taken sentimental to a whole new level and wanted to appreciate one thing that meant a lot to her - her local butcher. Sharing her adoration for Malcolm Michaels Quality Butchers in Leeds, the doting fan has hit back at cruel trolls who have called her 'crazy' for her unique new tattoo.
She visits the butchers daily and has become good friends with the staff (Julie Turner)
Her tattoo proudly supports her favourite shop (Julie Turner)Mum-of-two Julie Turner, 52, visits the butchers every day and decided to get the tattoo whilst being on holiday in Scarborough. Being such a loyal customer, the tattoo reads ‘Malcolm Michaels Butchers No1’ on her upper left leg and she couldn't be happier with it.
Being branded as 'crazy' Julie has hit back at the haters, telling them 'it's my body', and the owner of the butchers has called it an 'honour' to be treasured in such a way. Julie has other tattoos, with one on her arm saying 'Love me for who I am' but this one is the only one commemorating her favourite shop.
Going in daily to buy fresh pork pies, sandwich fillings and cheeses, Julie shares how much of a good relationship she has with the staff. "They're such a friendly bunch. They have laughs and jokes. They always put a song on when I'm there - the one by Ali G and Shaggy, 'Me Julie'. They're always trying to get me dancing! They're all such nice guys. It's such a fun friendly butchers," she told Leeds Live.
'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'
The idea had come after she was joking around with the staff and called their bluff when one of them jokingly dared her to get the tattoo. Co-owner Malcolm Leary explained: "I learned about it through our group text with the shop. I must admit, I was shocked, to say the least.
"Many of our friends have got Leeds United tattoos and tattoos of their heroes, and all sorts of things that are big in their lives, but a butchers is a bit different! It's an honour, a tribute, but it's a big call! We're all married with children and none of our wives have got our names tattooed on them. So, a big win for Julie! Bless her."
