Meghan Markle and Prince Harry look likely to take a major swipe at Prince William, according to an expert. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have purchased the film rights for the novel Meet Me at the Lake by author Carley Fortune. The bestselling book focuses on a couple who meet in their 30s and fall in love, with the story dealing with themes of childhood trauma and depression.

The two main characters in Meet Me at the Lake are called Fern and Will. Royal commentator Kate Manzi believes Harry and Meghan will be sure to change the names to avoid association with the Prince of Wales.

"It's a romantic story about characters called Will and Fern who meet at the lake surprisingly enough," she said on Palace Confidential. Host Jo Elvin replied: "Surely that Will name will be changing."

Kate agreed: "I was thinking that because Will is the kind of very hot love interest in the novel. So, there’s no way they are going to allow those names. You can’t leave it as Will so he will definitely have his name changed."

William and Harry's relationship has been strained after the Duke of the Sussex made a number of allegations against his brother. In Harry's memoir Spare, he claimed William had physically assaulted him during an argument.

In his Netflix documentary, Harry further said he was left terrified after William "screamed and shouted" at him during the Sandringham Summit. It's thought the brothers have barely spoken since the Duke of Sussex moved to America.

Meghan and Harry are thought to have bought the film rights to Meet Me at the Lake as part of their exclusive Netflix deal. The Sussexeshave a great working relationship with the streaming service, with a spokesman for Netflix saying: "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value.

"Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date. Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.

"We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus." The Heart of Invictus series is due to air on the streaming service this month.
