NFL star defender Joey Bosa makes clear feelings on 5000 calorie diet
NFL star Joey Bosa has begun to hate eating after taking in 5,000 calories a day this off-season.
The Los Angeles Chargers pass-rusher has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, and has added on around 30lbs to his body weight - wanting to become an even more dominant player this season.
But eating that amount of food has certainly not been an enjoyable process for the 28-year-old. Bosa told reporters: "Eating really isn't enjoyable these days. It’s more so just part of the job."
Ever since he entered the league in 2016 as the third overall draft pick to the Chargers, Bosa has stuck with a very similar offseason workout routine. The 28-year-old continued in that routine this summer, but added much more food to it in order to up by his weight.
He said: "I was able to stay consistent with all the things that I normally would do. But the key to gaining weight is just to eat a lot. Eat way more than you want to. And it’s no fun a lot of the time."

One of the best pass-rushers in the league, Bosa practically missed the whole season last year after suffering a groin injury in week three of the campaign. He would play in two more games, but had been severely hampered - only registering three sacks on the season.
The gained weight might help him remain on the field more often then he has over the last few seasons - only having three years playing in each game while missing significant amount of time in the other four seasons as he goes into year eight in the league.
The superstar pass rusher has reportedly put on close to 30lbsHe said: "I specifically tried to really eat good and put some weight on this offseason, get back to my weight I was at a few years ago, where I could really use my power. Really handle guys in the run and be more effective in that part of the game."
Throughout training camp with the Chargers, he practices against one of the league's best offensive tackles in Rashawn Slater, who has spoken on the new-look Bosa. Slater told reporters: "I noticed that right away... I feel a little extra pop with him this year for sure."
Bosa will hope to replicate his younger brother, Nick, from his previous season with the San Francisco 49ers. Nick won the league's Defensive Player of the Year award, racking up 18.5 sacks and being a dominant force in the run game.
However, Nick is currently away from the team as he holds out for a new contract.
