Rita Ora will take the stage at Prince Harry's Invictus Games this year, much to the excitement of the British popstar's fanbase.

The 6th edition of the Duke of Sussex's annual sports tournament will take place in Düsseldorf next month, marking its first time ever to be hosted in Germany. The Invictus Games were founded by Harry in 2014 to celebrate current members or veterans of the military who have been wounded, injured or made sick during or after their service. Its upcoming event, which carries the slogan 'A Home for Respect', is expected to see 550 athletes from 22 nations participate across 10 sports.

On Thursday, the Twitter page of the Invictus Games announced that Rita Ora would be performing at the closing ceremony of the highly-anticipated tournament. According to the post, ticketholders can expect to be 'mesmerised' by the RIP singer's headlining show, which will take place at the iconic Merkur Spiel-Arena on Saturday, September 16, at 8pm.

"I am incredibly proud to be part of the Closing Ceremony of the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf," Rita, 32, said in a statement. "I am so excited to be performing in front of this very unique audience. The Invictus Games is a very special sports event, and the competitors are an inspiration in perseverance and will for all of us."

An appearance from Prince Harry will also take place during the final ceremony, with Meghan Markle expected to jet in from California to support her beloved husband as he delivers an inspiring speech to wrap up the tournament. The duke is currently in Singapore to attend a charity event, having just travelled to Tokyo for the ISPS Sports Values Summit-Special Edition.

In a video clip shared on Thursday with Invictus Games' participants, Harry vowed that the upcoming event would be "the best games ever." The message, which appears to have been recorded from the 38-year-old's Montecito mansion ahead of his overseas trip, also saw the duke admit that he's 'nervous' yet 'excited' for the tournament.

"You’re all on different parts of your healing journey. We all are – we always will be. But I can assure you that this experience you're going to have will hopefully be life-changing," he said in the empowering address. "And you'll come out of a better person for sure."

The former British Army officer then took a moment to share his gratitude with his fellow service folks, thanking them for their "commitment," "determination", and "getting to this point."

"We're going to have fun," Harry promised, before adding, "I can't wait to have all of you together." He signed off the video with a casual, "Alright guys, take care, cheers" and a friendly salute.
