Jonnie Irwin praised by fans as he undergoes major renovation project
Jonnie Irwin has been praised by fans after revealing plans his latest project - a home makeover.
The former A Place in the Sun presenter took to Instagram on Wednesday to post an exciting video of a major refurbishment job, much to the delight of his 189k followers. The update comes less than a year after Irwin, 50, announced the devastating news that he had terminal cancer. He has spoken openly about his experience with the illness since, including how it has affected his perspective as a father and husband.
Speaking directly to the camera, Irwin explained that it was 'Day One' of the renovation of the 'front of the house', before giving viewers a shot of the two-storey residence. "It's not the prettiest of houses," he admits, before sharing details of his vision for its future.

Jonnie admitted that the house wasn't 'the prettiest' (Jonnie Irwin/Instagram)"The plan is to put some different design windows in there. Drop that window a bit. And then move the entire...well, rip down that porch, and move the doorway to the centre of the house," he continues. "Doing so, it brings in a big room in the middle of the house. A walk-through room. An entrance hall."
Irwin explains that the changes will hopefully be both structurally and cosmetically beneficial, making the house "Better to live in" and "better for the look of the house."

"A couple of days late posting this but I promised to be honest with my posts about this renovation - warts n all," Irwin captioned the DIY-themed video.

Jonnie was given a terminal cancer diagnosis in November 2022 (INSTAGRAM)Fans of the TV presenter were quick to shower the clip with kind messages, most which commended his courage in the face of such difficult circumstances.
"Your [sic] inspirational Jonnie. You give anyone watching your posts strength when it should be us giving you strength. You should be so proud of yourself. Wishing you the very very best with prayers love and blessings going to you from all whom you inspire with your strength of character."
Irwin and his wife Jessica are the doting parents of Rex, 3, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac. The property expert has previously shared how he's struggled to enjoy the pleasures of family life since learning he had just "six months to live" after his lung cancer spread to his brain.
"Every time something really nice happens with them, I have this thing knocking at my door, saying, 'Don’t get too happy because you’re not going to be around much longer,'" he said.
