Gran accused of attempted murder as girl stabbed repeatedly with kitchen knife
A gran has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her 7-year-old granddaughter multiple times with a kitchen knife.
Police were called to a home in Bronx, New York, US, after a girl was found lying on the bed after being allegedly stabbed by her own grandmother 65-year-old Mariza Yauger.
An eyewitness saw the moment officers came running out of the apartment and put the child in the police car and drove to Lincoln Hospital.
The child remains in a critical condition.
Ana Martinez told WABC of the moment she saw the officer carrying the 7-year-old in his arms.

Police were called to the home of a grandmother amid reports of a stabbing (ABC News / WABC)She said: "[The police officer] came out running from where he was at with the little girl. The property that they have is a couple of houses away. So we just seen that he came out running.
“The cop car was right in front of my property. So he just put her right in the cop car. He didn't wait for the ambulance."
The grandmother was taken into custody and later arrested and charged with attempted murder, attempted manslaughter, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
China Aponte, a neighbour, has admitted she can't get over the tragic incident.
The young girl was taken to hospital after the stabbing (wabc/abc)She revealed: “I’m a grandmother myself. I just don’t even have words for it. My heart is broken. It is sad. Very sad.”
The girl, whose name has not been revealed, has since undergone surgery and remains in hospital recovering, according to to her uncle.
Police investigating the horrific stabbings are still unclear of the grandmother's motive.
The incident comes just weeks after a man cleaning out his dead gran's home was shot dead by police - after being mistaken for an intruder.
Police were called to the home in Bronx, New York (wabc/abc)Joe Frasure, 28, from Wyoming, Ohio, US, was shot by officers on January 30 at his grandmother's flat and was rushed to hospital following his injuries.
He later died the next day, according to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.

Wyoming police dispatched officers to a flat shortly before 1am after two people were reportedly trying to break into the property.
Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the incident after bodycam footage of the shooting was passed on to authorities.
“This is a tragedy for all involved,” Brady said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time.”
