Heat blast incoming as heavy rain deluge to give way to 27C temperatures
After a long spell of washout summer weather forecasters have predicted a brief hot flush with temperatures set to rise to up to 27C in some parts this week.
The Met Office has forecast a rise in temperatures for later in the week after weeks of rain and thunderstorms with temperatures staying largely below 20C. After Brits were lashed by downpours and thunderstorms now the forecaster has predicted a change in fortunes with sunny spells and warmer temperatures on the way.
The forecaster said on Tuesday afternoon: "A short-lived warm spell coming up, before temperatures return closer to average by the weekend. Temperatures peaking on Thursday, widely in the low 20s and perhaps reaching mid to high twenties for central and southern areas."
Forecasters are now predicting the mercury could reach up to 27C by Thursday for areas in the south east and the Midlands. And BBC forecasters are also predicting warmer temperatures with the promise of sunny spells throughout the day, but the better weather isn't here to last with longer term forecasts predicting a return to wet weather by the weekend.
In its five-day forecast the Met Office said: "Low cloud, drizzle and fog patches, mainly in the far west on Thursday. Otherwise some very warm sunshine. Turning cooler and more unsettled from Friday with heavy showers possible Saturday."

Looking towards next week the Met Office says Brits should expect more heavy rain and thunderstorms after the brief warmer spell has ended with a return to more 'unsettled' weather.
