Channel 4 show Alone shows terrifying moment contestant is confronted by a bear
A new reality survival show has shown the moment that a contestant comes face to face with a bear on their first night in the wilderness.
Alone, on Channel 4, sees 11 members of the public pushed to their ultimate limits as they try to survive in the Canadian wilderness on the edge of the Arctic Circle. Whilst they've been put into the middle of nowhere in the Canadian wilderness, the contestants have undergone a nine-day training course to help them survive their new surroundings where they've been left alone with 10 survival items and no food. Yet it still didn't prepare them for the pitch black of the forest at night and the sounds of their wildlife neighbours.
Alone contestant Naomi admits that she "gets lost in Tesco"Naomi, a 26-year-old clothing designer and mum from London who readily admits "I get lost in Tesco ", is one of the contestants who unfortunately gets a very close and personal encounter with a bear at night.
For Naomi it's very different to suburban London where she lives, as she tells the camera: "There are so many sounds. My senses are already being heightened. Thousands of noises in London and not one of them sounds like this."
A noise nearby makes her jump as she adds: "I don't know what the f*** that was. I'm shaking. There is something right outside my shelter."

The contestants are dropped into Canadian wilderness, close to the Arctic Circle, where 3000 bears are known to inhabitThe nightlife camera picks up a bear that is dangerously close to Naomi's makeshift shelter. It's not unusual as there are over 3,000 bears in the wilderness where the contestants are strategically dropped. She shouts for it to go away
The next morning a shaken Naomi reveals it was "the scariest night of my life". She tells the camera: "It knows I'm here now so I need to protect myself." She spends her second day building a more solid wooden shelter to keep herself protected from her forest neighbours.
A terrified Naomi is confronted with a bear next to her tent on the first nightThe programme is set to continue as contestants battle it out to try and earn the grand prize money of £100,000 by being the last person left standing.
Channel 4’s Ian Dunkley said: "In one of the most inhospitable locations on earth, the cast will not only have to battle the elements and hostile wildlife but also themselves, facing adversity with no camera crew, no producers and no catering trucks on standby. It will provide a fascinating insight into the human spirit and what it takes to survive against all the odds."
The next morning Naomi vows to build a better shelter as she tells the camera "I need to protect myself"Executive producer Rachel Bloomfield added: "Alone is the most real and raw survival series on television. Ordinary people will go on an extraordinary adventure. We hope what will begin as a bare-knuckle survival challenge will go on to reveal itself as a complex and beautifully layered series – an examination of self and soul, as well as outdoors skills."
Alone continues next Sunday August 13 at 9pm on Channel 4. Episode one can be found on All4.
