Meghan Markle's birthday celebrations from hip restaurant to night without Harry
Meghan Markle kicked off her 42nd birthday celebrations early with a night out with her gal pals, while her husband Prince Harry was nowhere to be seen.
The Duchess of Sussex headed to the cinema with a group of friends, including her neighbour Portia De Rossi, as they went to see the new Barbie movie. The women watched Margot Robbie's new film at a cinema in Santa Barbara earlier this week.
According to a source, the Duke of Sussex decided to stay at home in the couple's $14.6million (£11.8million) Montecito mansion. After watching the film, the source said Meghan and her friends continued their night out at the San Ysidro Ranch hotel.

While Harry stayed at home for Meghan's girls night, he made sure to later plan a special meal to celebrate his wife's birthday. The Sussexes were spotted dining at the Tre Lune restaurant near their home in Montecito on Wednesday night.

The couple were seen leaving the Italian eatery, which is popular among celebrities, on Wednesday night. They were joined by a group of friends including Meghan's close pal Heather Dorak and her husband Matt Cohen.

Diners can also order items such as a steak on a bed of arugula which costs $65 (£51), or a pan-fried veal chop which costs $61 (£48). The restaurant states they pair their food with "a thoughtful wine list and classic cocktails".
During their outing, Meghan and Harry seemed to be have a great time as they were spotted smiling and laughing together. The actress looked incredible wearing a strapless black and white striped dress, which she paired with black sandals.
She was also seen holding onto a brown Cult Gaia bag. Harry opted for a casual outfit and in pictures obtained by the Daily Mail, the royal was seen wearing a blue shirt and light-coloured chinos.
Meghan's birthday outing came just days after she and Harry put on a united front amid false rumours their marriage is on the rocks. The couple appeared together in a video as they called young innovators to congratulate them on being awarded a share of a multimillion-dollar prize from the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund.
