The Chase team blasted as 'worst ever' as player botches simple question
The Chase viewers were left screaming at their screens on Thursday after a contestant botched the answer to a seemingly simple query.
It's no secret that the ITV quiz show puts its players through their paces, with fast questions under the pressure of a timer one of the key elements of its format. The Chase has even be accused in the past of being too tough, with some fans arguing that it regularly tests contestants on knowledge that is overly obscure or specific.
This criticism didn't exactly apply to the latest episode, however. Viewers took to social media last night to vent their frustrations after a contestant named Richie gave a hilarious answer to an astronomical question during the famous Cash Builder round.
Richie left The Chase viewers stunned with his answer to the simple question (ITV)When host Bradley Walsh asked how many years it takes the earth to orbit the sun, the confident player responded, "365." The incorrect answer was almost certainly the result of Richie hearing 'days' instead 'years', but that didn't stop stunned viewers from roasting him on the Internet.
"Apparently it takes 365 years to go round the sun, that means you'd be lucky to see one season," one person quipped, while another said, "This guy on the chase just said the earth takes 365 years to orbit the sun once" with a laughing emoji. When offered the option to accept £73,000, Richie decided to go for just £1,000 instead - as did the rest of his teammates.

The Chase fans slammed the team as the 'worst EVER' (ITV)"That’s the first time that it’s ever happened anywhere in the world," Chaser Mark observed, before adding, "Every team member going low, you’ll be YouTube sensations."
Fans of the show also scathingly slated Richie's team as a whole, with some even calling it 'the worst ever'. A handful also speculated that the squad weren't interested in the cash prize, and just want to claim victory over the Chaser.
"I don't think this team is here to win money. I think they just want to beat The Beast," one person mused.
Twitter lit up once again when the team missed out on their final earnings, coming away from the show with just £4,000 in total.
"Who gets £6k then goes low?! What the hell," one viewer grumbled, while another quipped: 'I'm amazing this lot didn't answer ''set C, Brad.''
Another added, "That was one of the worst team I have ever watched and their families should be ashamed of them." One particularly annoyed viewer even blasted the team for wasting their time, tweeting, "Never get that hour back now the absolutely worst ever."
