Chocolate lovers rejoice as KitKat has announced the return of a much-loved bar after a three-year hiatus, and fans are going crazy for it's return.

We're all familiar with the iconic chocolate bar's slogan, there for us 'when you need a break', and there's nothing more satisfying than taking time out with a cuppa and your favourite KitKat bar, tucking in eagerly.

Now, fan-favourite KitKat Chunky Hazelnut is back yet again, ready to rival the KitKat Peanut Butter bar in a bid to take the crown for the nation's favourite nutty chocolate.

According to Nestlé UK, the 'Battle of the Breaks' is about to commence, competing for the hearts of KitKat fans.

The delicious treat is formed of crispy wafer, drizzled with a layer of mouth-watering hazelnut spread, coated in an indulgent smooth milk chocolate.

KitKat Assistant Brand Manager, Torin Zieboll, said: "It's been three long years since KitKat Chunky Hazelnut was on sale in the UK, and we couldn't resist bringing it back for chocolate fans to indulge in a little nutty decadence and turn up the heat on KitKat Chunky Peanut Butter, who has reigned supreme for more than a decade."

He added: "I'm keen to hear which flavour KitKat Chunky fans prefer this time around. While KitKat Chunky Peanut Butter holds a special place in my heart, I'll be taking a break from the classic for now and mixing it up with a KitKat Chunky Hazelnut. I'd encourage anyone who didn't get the chance to try it last time to give it a whirl."

Since the launch of the beloved KitKat Chunky in 1999, we've seen numerous different flavours appear in limited-edition runs, including Salted Caramel Popcorn, Cookie Dough, Coconut, Chocolate Fudge and New York Cheesecake.

And Hazelnut has made its return once again, but many chocolate lovers will have never have even considered what the iconic wafer filing is actually made out of.

Now many KitKat fans have been left positively gobsmacked after learning exactly what goes into making that gorgeously crunchy layer of wafer, and some say the makers have taken "recycling to another level". YouTuber Zack D. Films, who regularly shares videos about interesting, little-known facts, has now shared what goes into the classic Nestlé treat, leaving many of his subscribers with their jaws on the floor.

In a clip entitled The Inside Of Kit Kats Are Not What You Think, Zack, revealed: "They [Nestlé] claim it's just a crisp wafer. But what they actually used to make it might surprise you.

"Some KitKats get broken while they're being made and instead of throwing them out, the company crushes them up and adds sugar. That's what's on the inside of KitKat bars – it's literally crushed up KitKats."
