Love Island's most successful losers proving it's better to not win ITV show

Love Island stars come and go but hefty bank balances after the programme are hard to come by. Research shows those who don't win are better off in the long run.

Over the years the likes of Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea, Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay, Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey have won the show but it appears they're far from earning millions on social media. Viewers have been gripped to their screens since the show debuted in 2015, with several former Islanders going on to marry and have children.

But those who walk away from the final without the crown and, often, without the relationship status tend to end up becoming better off in the long run, when it comes to finances. New research shows that the likes of Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, who finished second place in series five, and Olivia Attwood, who placed third in series three, are the show's top earners.

After leaving the villa, many Islanders go on to land brand deals with a string of different brands from beauty and fast fashion to food and drinks deals – earning eye-watering sums of money. Research by BestBettingSites.com shows recently engaged Molly-Mae and Tommy are Love Island's top earners for sponsored Instagram posts.

Influencer Molly-Mae, 24, is said to be able to earn a whopping £29,100 for an Instagram post after becoming the most recognisable face to have left the villa. Meanwhile her fiancé, professional boxer Tommy Fury, could demand as much as £21,600 to share a post in view of his impressive 5.1 million followers on the photo-sharing application.

But while Molly-Mae and Tommy might be raking it in with as much as £50k between them, Olivia Bowen (nee Buckland), who placed second with her now husband Alex Bowen in 2018, is the third top earner. Since leaving the villa, Olivia has had her own clothing collection with MissPap and also bagged a job on This Morning.

Elsewhere, she and her husband Alex have also landed their own reality show on TLC, meaning she can ask for a staggering £14,500 for a post shared with her 3.1 million Instagram followers. While Chris Hughes may not have found long-lasting love on the show, he's since gone on to have a successful television career as well as a career in the sports industry.

The personality, who placed third in series three, can ask for a hefty £11,400 thanks to racking up a large following after presenting various racing programmes for ITV. Meanwhile, his former girlfriend Olivia Attwood has gone on to become a huge household name with her TV work including her series Olivia Attwood: Filthy Rich.

Since walking away from the show, Olivia landed a role on The Only Way Is Essex and became the first Love Island star to appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!. Things didn't exactly work out for Olivia in the jungle though as she pulled out within the first week due to health issues.

More recently, Olivia has delved into the world of investigative television shows and even turned her hand to stripping and launching an OnlyFans page for her show Filfthy Rich. Meanwhile, Olivia has documented her recent wedding to Bradley Dack in the ITV series, Olivia Marries Her Match. Thanks to her evergrowing fame, she can ask for just shy of £11,000 per post.

But the likes of Camilla Thurlow, Tasha Ghori and Laura Anderson – who have all appeared in previous seasons – can still earn a decent sum per post, despite not winning the show. All three can charge around £8,400 according to the research.
