Ashley Cole's wife, Sharon Canu, has shared the first photo from the couple's wedding.

The parents-of-two said 'I do' in Italy, surrounded by friends and family. As their children, Jaxon and Grace watched on, Sharon and Ashley beamed with delight in the palatial grounds of the Hotel La Vecchia Posta in Ladispoli in Rome.

Taking to Instagram, model Sharon shared the stunning snap in which she and Ashley hold hands underneath a plume of rainbow smoke, with the caption: "Mr and Mrs Cole." The mum-of-two looks incredible wearing a bardot-style gown with a super long veil with her blonde hair tied back into a chic chignon bun.

Ashley, 42, also looks dapper in a crisp navy suit with a cream corsage as he grins at his bride, who he met while he was playing for AS Roma.

Famous friends of the couple flocked to the post to share their well wishes, including Ashely's former Chelsea teammates, Frank Lampard and John Terry. John posted: "Wow what an amazing photo and the most incredible wedding. Congratulations." John reportedly serenaded the newlyweds on the dance floor, which must have gone down a storm.

The couple's guests have been sharing snippets from the big day in which the cliffside venue in Italy could be seen bathed in a shower of fireworks while the party enjoyed a lavish banquet and plenty of champagne.

Sharon posted a photo of herself holding a sparkler having changed into a champagne-coloured frock for the evening party. She also shared a photo on Instagram of her hen party, which she captioned: "We laughed a lot, sang a lot, danced a lot, drunk a lot, ate a lot".

Speaking about the wedding earlier this month, a source told The Sun: "Ashley and Sharon are madly in love and have spent months planning their special day. They met in 2014 when he joined AS Roma and now they are returning to the city for their nuptials."

Ashely and Sharon have been together since 2014 and went on to have two children before the ex-husband of singer Cheryl popped the question in March last year. The news was shared on social media via a video of the happy couple sharing a kiss surrounded by flowers. A caption from Sharon read: "The easiest 'Yes' I've ever said."

Ashley met his wife four years after he split up from Fight For This Love star, Cheryl. Speaking about how he had changed after meeting Sharon, the former left-back told The Telegraph: "These are the things I focus on now – my kids and my girlfriend. It’s a different me. I’m more of a family man now. You won’t see me in nightclubs anymore, you’ll see me at a park pushing my kids.

"I was a young, angry kid at the time, and now I’ve grown up and understand the things I did is life, it happens. Not just me, but with certain situations, loads of other people have done [the same]. I’ve learnt from it, it’s made me a better person. It’s made me a great dad."
