Meghan Markle needs to "prove people wrong" before she makes millions in the film industry, according to a movie expert. The Duchess of Sussex was recently said to have signed with renowned Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavour, with her since said to be eyeing up becoming a "Hollywood power player".

With the Duchess, who stepped down from the Royal Family in 2020 alongside her husband Prince Harry, known for playing the role of Rachel Zane in the hit TV series Suits prior to marrying Harry, could she be eyeing up an acting stint now she's signed to WME? Although it has been claimed by Variety that "acting will not be an area of focus", the world is Meghan's oyster after it was reported she feels "she'll have better success if she takes the time to work on projects alone without Harry".

Nicole Russin-McFarland, a film score composer and actress, who is currently working on a Peter Pan screenplay, spoke exclusively to The Mirror US about the Duchess' future in the world of Hollywood, and more specifically the film industry. Speaking to us about Meghan's future in film, Nicole said that Meghan will only be well respected "if she puts in the work that commands her that respect". She added that the Duchess "can absolutely have an A-list acting career", but "if she doesn’t go into this the wrong way that’s been done so many times by every reality show contestant and celebrity spouse ever".

"Sure, she has the most sought after agency in the world and the fame we’re said are prerequisites. How effective are they really?" she asked. Nicole went on to add: "Meghan has to prove people wrong by hitting the books, going back to acting workshops, private acting lessons, writing her own amazing screenplays solo no ghost writers, doing her own production elements say maybe having a vast knowledge of some area."

She then touched upon how Natalie Portman had to act in her directorial debut to get the full financing needed and attention it deserved, with her adding that "this is the norm for women", which could mean that Meghan "is going to have to work hard like the rest of us to prove herself".

Nicole thinks that Meghan will need to write her own material to make it big, with her also in need of "polishing herself as an actress". "Given that most roles for women over 30 are tokenism. Meghan may need to begin by creating her dream roles herself," she added. The expert then praised Meghan for being "a smart lady with a university degree who worked in politics briefly", with her having all the intellect to work in politics again, but asked: "Why isn’t her team pushing her to do so?"

"I really hope Meghan makes it big and proves herself as an acting talent and businesswoman," she went on, before revealing how much money she can earn in the film industry. "That depends," Nicole replied when asked how much money the Duchess could potentially make. "If she were to go right into jumping into acting, she isn’t going to be in that $20 million league with proven movie stars. Could she get $1 to 2 million? Easily with her fame.

"Could she achieve $5 million? PERHAPS, because it would be negotiating with the curiosity factor. Any movie with her in it has some potential to gather in the biggest fans combined with hate watching people who would make fun of her if she turns out to be good anyway, with curiosity over wanting to know what she is like as a serious actress again," Nicole concluded.
