Erik ten Hag set for showdown talks after Rasmus Hojlund video call

Manchester United have already splashed the cash in the transfer market, but Erik ten Hag still wants to do more business before new Premier League season kicks off in a fortnight.

The Red Devils have snapped up Mason Mount and Andre Onana in big-money deals and are hopeful of making Atalanta hotshot Rasmus Hojlund their third summer signing. However, a deal for the sought-after striker is far from a certainty with Paris Saint-Germain also in the mix for his signature.

A number of players are expected to complete moves away in the coming weeks too, with United willing to sacrifice some high-profile names in order to raise further transfer funds for Ten Hag to spend.

Ten Hag makes Hojlund call

Erik ten Hag has held private video calls with Ramus Hojlund in a bid to convince the young striker to snub a move to PSG.

Manchester United have identified the 20-year-old Denmark international as their priority striker target after failing to persuade Tottenham to sell Harry Kane. However, Hojlund's rapid evolution at Atalanta has not gone unnoticed.

According to The Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag has been in contact with Hojlund personally to sell the move to him whilst the Manchester United hierarchy negotiate a fee with Atalanta.

And it appears as though the Dutchman's ground work could pay off, with reports suggesting that Hojlund favours a move to Old Trafford.

Heaton seeks showdown talks

Veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton is seeking talks with Erik ten Hag over his future amid interest in his services from Premier League new boys Luton Town.

Heaton, 37, returned to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021 but played just three times last season.

And when the veteran was asked about his future during the club's pre-season tour of the United States, he hinted that he wanted to play regularly - indicating that a summer switch could be on the cards after all.

Galatasaray lead Fred race

Turkish giants Galatasaray are now the favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder Fred after vice-president Erden Timur jetted into the UK to try and seal a deal.

That's according to The Express, who claim United are demanding a £20m transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder.

Fred has been a mainstay since moving to Old Trafford back in 2018 but is now free to move on. Fulham have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder, but Fred's most likely destination could be Turkey if Galatasaray can put together an attractive financial package.
