We rounded up the best 9 flavoured rums for under £30
Rum can be quite a strong taste when it comes to the classic dark and golden stuff, but some fans of the sugarcane based spirit are after something a bit sweeter or something with a splash of familiar flavours in. That's where flavoured rum comes in and the market is filled with some really noteworthy options.
Here at the Mirror we've taken it upon ourselves to find the best flavoured rums available on the market, taking into consideration the authenticity of the claimed flavour, alcohol level and even the bottle design to decide which are must-haves in any home bar.
Here is what we consider to be the best flavoured rums on the market, coming from our rum expert Jada Jones:
1. Project #173 Butterscotch
Project #173 ButterscotchThe boiling point of alcohol is 173.1 degrees Fahrenheit which has served as the inspiration behind the name of Project #173. The Butterscotch flavour solidly holds the number one spot on our list, while many rums will claim to have notes of butterscotch this one leans in completely to it.
It's smooth and creamy going down with barely any bite at the back of your throat. Notes of vanilla, caramel, cocoa and brown sugar really come through but it manages to not be overpoweringly sweet which is hard to achieve.

I like it best served simply over ice in a rocks glass but I think this would make a lovely addition to a boozy hot chocolate or a creamy cocktail. While this is our favourite flavour from Project #173, honourable mention goes out to Black Cherry and Chocolate.

2. Malibu Watermelon
Watermelon MalibuThis fruity rum was a close contender for the number one spot, Malibu may have rose to fame with its coconut rum but it's the watermelon edition that stands out above the rest. The watermelon flavour is actually quite natural tasting rather than the artificial you might expect.
It's refreshing and has a lower ABV which is perfect for an evening of cocktails with your friends, in fact I went so far as to whip up a number of cocktails when it first came out at a bar in Liverpool. It's light and refreshing, honestly if you're looking to impress your friends at your next dinner party I think it's the way to go.

3. Hawksbill Pineapple
Hawksbill PineappleHawksbill Rum is known for it's plea to save the turtles, which the brand even featuring the creatures on the bottles and donating 10% of profits to turtle conservation projects in Barbados. Not only does this brand give back but it tastes incredible, so it's no surprise that it won the World's Best Flavoured award at the World Rum Awards 2023.

It's made using real pineapple that would've otherwise gone to waste but it opens up with a really sweet and authentic pineapple flavour. It's so smooth that it's easy to forget it's actually an alcoholic beverage, although it is so please remember to drink responsibly. The pineapple flavour really comes through and is reminiscent of a freshly squeezed pineapple juice.
I like it best on ice or as a pineapple rum punch but it's a drink that carries itself well enough to work in whatever way you serve it. Perfect for punches, cocktails and impressing your guests while also giving back to the environment. I think it's a must have in any rum collection.

4. Depth Charge Black Cherry
Depth Charge Black Cherry (Depth Charge)This is the cherry flavour that rums aspire to have, the flavour is reminiscent of classic sodas such as Doctor Pepper and Cherry Cola with zesty citrus notes being balanced between notes of marshmallow and vanilla all holding up a vibrant cherry. If you're to only have one cherry rum in your collection then I urge you to make it this one.
It's very smooth and I would recommend serving it neat, with ice or with a classic mixer of cola - although this one doesn't strictly need the mixer.

5. Malibu Strawberry
Malibu Strawberry (Malibu)While authentically sticking to the natural flavour has been praised multiple times in this piece, this is the one rum where you are not going to find it. This bottle doesn't taste anything like a fresh punnet of strawberries but instead tastes like every strawberry candy you loved as a child.
It's perfect for fans of Pornstar Martinis and lends itself well to cocktails you'd want to serve in a coupe, but honestly paired with lemonade and a dash of apple juice and it's more than impressive. Perfect for summer parties and satiating a sweet tooth.

6. One-Eyed Rebel Passionfruit & Coconut
One-Eyed Rebel Passionfruit & Coconut (One-Eyed Rebel)One-Eyed Rebel is one of our favourite spiced rums so it's no surprise it made the list, this builds on the classic version with it having notes of ginger and vanilla but also comes through with a creamy coconut and passion fruit flavour. It's delicious.
We recommend having it over ice cream in a boozy take on the classic affogato but it's also delicious on the rocks or with your favourite mixer. Pineapple juice lends itself well.

7. Rumbullion Chilli & Chocolate Rum
Rumbullion Chilli & Chocolate Rum (Rumbullion)Chilli and chocolate might sound like an odd combination for a drink, and perhaps that's why it's only available in a limited release. But Ableforth's Rumbullion have really mastered the art with this limited run. It's not chocolate like you'd find from Cadbury's or Mars, instead it's a little bit more earthy which works well with the vanilla and orange flavours that make an appearance.
The chipotle and jalapeño chillies used aren't overly hot, but I say that as someone who is very accustomed to eating spicy food on a regular basis. Instead it provides a gentle heat and spiced note that works well with the clove, cassia and cardamom. I think this will be a perfect winter warmer in hot chocolates and coffees or over ice, but I wouldn't wait around to snap it up as it's available for a limited release only.

8. Grand Kadoo Carnival Pineapple Rum
Grand Kadoo Carnival Pineapple RumThis Bajan rum brings together flavours of caramel, pineapple and spice. It has quite a prominent pineapple nose that sweetens up the experience while the rum itself isn't overly sweet. I think this is a great option for a pineapple lover who isn't all about an overly sweet drink.
It goes well over ice or neat but is best served up with cola and a lime wedge or witrh lime juice and white sugar to make a daiquiri.

9. Kraken Black Cherry & Madagascan Vanilla Black Spiced Rum
Kraken Black Cherry & Madagascan Vanilla Black Spiced RumKraken is a classic for a reason. With a reasonable price point, a beautiful bottle and a name most people would recognise it's a really popular gifting option. Of the full Kraken range Black Cherry is definitely my favourite, it has a little bit of a bite to it so you can't miss the 40% ABV.
I think this one is perfect for mixing with cola for a boozy take on classic soft drinks and great for showing off you know your stuff at parties. The deep cherry, caramel and woody vanilla notes definitely come through.
