Eagle-eyed shoppers spot Lunchables has quietly changed its name

Many were shocked by the name change

Lunchables are a delicious snack pack that were much loved by children in the 90s, and are still enjoyed by many kids (and adults) today. While the contents has changed over the years (remember when they used to contain little desserts and Capri-Suns?) the Lunchables name has always stayed the same - until now.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted that Lunchables has 'secretly' changed its name, and some people are not happy with the unexpected rebrand.

One Tesco shopper was left so offended with what she saw on the shelf, that she took to the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas Facebook page to express her shock.

Previously the snack had been called 'Lunchables' (Dairylea)

"Seriously?" she questioned on the Facebook group, wondering why they'd decided to change the name from 'Lunchables' to 'Lunchers'. She continued: "When did they change the name of Lunchables to Lunchers? I wonder if anything else has secretly changed their name like this."

The packaging even says "New name, new taste", leaving people wondering whether they even resemble the Lunchables they used to be.

'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'

Food company Mondelez, who owns brand Luncheables, has given the 'build-it-yourself' snacks a bit of a makeover, reports the Daily Star. The change to Lunchers now aligns with the rest of the snacking portfolio, Mondelez explained.

And unsurprisingly, the changes that have been made to the food includes a reduction in salt and saturated fat, making the snack less unhealthy, but it's still a great source of "calcium and protein and maintaining the same great taste and quality as our other Dairylea products", Ria Rianti, Senior Brand Manager at Mondelez International said.

In the comments, people asked: "How have I not noticed this?", while someone else likened the name change to being in a "parallel universe."

"Don't get me started on Marathons to Snickers, Opal Fruits to Starburst. I refuse to accept the name changes!", another fumed.
