Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has aimed another dig at the reporter who brought a Bayern Munich shirt bearing Harry Kane's name to a press conference.

Kane has just one year left on his contract at Spurs and has insisted he will not pen a new deal to extend his stay at the club. That has alerted several teams to Kane's apparent availability, with Bayern currently having the strongest interest in him.

The Bundesliga champions have so far had two bids turned down for the striker, with Thomas Tuchel keen to bring him to the Allianz Arena. Bayern's interest led to one German reporter attempting to mock the Spurs boss in a press conference last week.

The reporter brought along a shirt with 'Kane 9' on the back, saying: "It looks quite good." Postecoglou responded: "You get a good laugh for it there? You got what you wanted? Came a long way for that."

Ahead of Wednesday's clash with the Lion City Sailors, Spurs held another press conference and their manager could not resist the chance to have another dig. He opened by saying: "Let's get the show and tell out the way first shall we?"

The reporter's stunt also led to him being banned for Sunday's clash with Shakhtar Dontesk. And Postecoglou is hoping that a quick solution can be found to Kane's situation as he bids to rebuild the squad.

“I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone. I don’t think it is good for Harry, I don’t think it is good for the club," he said recently.

"Because as laser focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way. But the flip side of that is I don’t want to put a deadline on it, because that adds even more pressure.

"You want these things to happen for the right reasons. The reality of it is he’s still a contracted player at our football club, so that’s the way I see him."

Ironically, it does appear as if Kane may be closing in on a move to Bayern this summer. Mirror Football understands that Spurs owner Joe Lewis has made an ultimatum to the striker, insisting he either signs a new contract or moves this summer.

With Manchester United turning their attention to Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund, Bayern would appear to be in pole position. Whether they return with a fresh bid remains to be seen, but the story is set to dominate the rest of the window.
