Kate Middleton's younger brother has given a rare glimpse into his relationship with his sister. James Middleton spoke about her "quirks" before adding that he is "extremely proud" of her work ethic.

James spoke about his relationship with the Princess of Wales with Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard on Good Morning Britain.

The 36-year-old said he thought William and Kate had been doing a fantastic job during a tough few years for the Royal Family, adding: "She's my sister and I'm extremely proud. I'm always taken aback by how much she does do.

"But to be honest, she's my sister, so I know all of her quirks and everything and to see her blossoming in that role - I'm very proud of her."

James was on the ITV news programme to talk about how dogs have helped him to cope with his depression and why he is supporting training new guide dogs, writes OK!.

He gave Kate, William and their children George, Charlotte and Louis their family dog, Orla, as a present and shared that the pet had become part of their family.

Talking about his struggles with mental health, dog lover James said that he had found depression easier to talk about thanks to Kate, William and Harry having made mental health a key issue for them to talk and campaign about.

He said: "What's fantastic is (Kate, William and Harry) are in a position where they're talking about their own mental health."

Recently, William spoke about Kate's stress-busting hobby amid her busy lifestyle as a working royal and mum-of-three.

In 2016, William told how she is a fan of colouring books as he carried out an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

It came as he presented an OBE to illustrator Johanna Basford, who has released many adults colouring books, including the Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest.

After the ceremony, Johanna took to Instagram where she wrote about her conversation with the Prince.

She said: "He told me his wife likes my books. She colours. Kate is one of us!

"Now this makes perfect sense. Why wouldn’t she? A busy mum with what I imagine is a lot of stress, trying to raise and protect a family."

Colouring fans have long advocated the stress-relieving properties of grabbing pens or crayons and getting creative.

And wellness expert Antonia Harman told OK! : "Colouring in is deeply relaxing. We spend so much time on devices and looking at screens whereas using your hands and creating beauty of any kind will help you disconnect from tech and connect to yourself.

“Kate is clearly interested in art having studied history of art at university so this colouring no doubt helps her connect to her passion for art and beauty.”
