Love Island’s Maya Jama interrupts live Aftersun show for emotional announcement
Maya Jama brought the latest episode of Love Island: Aftersun to a screeching halt in order to make an emergency announcement.
The 28-year-old host was helming the latest instalment of the Love Island companion show that sees recent dumpees and star guests review and discuss the latest action and events from inside the villa.
But Sunday night’s show had the rug pulled out from under it – by the sudden announcement that two former Love Island stars have become engaged after meeting on the series.
Taking to the show, Maya paused proceedings in order to alert the live studio audience and those tuning in from home about the happy news.

“If you haven’t been on Instagram, Molly-Mae and Tommy have just got engaged. Congratulations!”
There was then an explosion of rapturous applause as the studio audience came together to celebrate the fact that series five contestants Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, both aged 24, are to become husband and wife.
Celebrating the news, Maya continued: “See, Love Island works! They’ve got a baby, engagement, just happy ever after.”
Molly-Mae and boxing champ Tommy became proud parents to a daughter that they named Bambi back in January this year.
The couple revealed on Sunday they had decided to tie-the-knot by sharing a video in Instagram which captured the magical moment boxing star Tommy got down on one knee.
Molly-Mae shared the heartwarming black and white video that showed her crying with joy as Tommy proposed on top of a cliff filled with gorgeous flowers, while their daughter Bambi was there to watch on.

She shared the clip with the simple caption: “Forever. 23/07/23”, alongside an engagement ring emoji and crying face emoji.
The pair were on Love Island in 2019 where they ended in second place behind winners Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea - who coupled up late in the contest and broke up soon after the series ended.
Molly-Mae and Tommy are far from the first Love Island stars to start a family or get married.

Season two winners Cara Delahoyde and Nathan Massey, who featured on the show in 2016, married in 2019 and share two children together.
While fellow season two stars Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland also married in 2018 and welcomed a son together in June last year.
While season three runners up Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt welcomed a daughter in 2020 and married the following year and series three stars Jess Shears and Dom Lever have also wed and welcomed their second child last year.
And other success stories include Liam Reardon and Millie Court who fell for each other in 2021's seasons seven – and recently recoupled after briefly splitting up and deciding that they prefer facing the world together a happy couple.
