BBC Breakfast viewers were pleased to see the return of presenter Luxmy Gopal on Sunday morning's programme.

Reporter Luxmy first appeared on the show during a short stint last year, which left fans calling for her to be added as a permanent host to the line-up.

And now, a year after impressing viewers with her sofa debut, Luxmy has finally made a comeback to the show in a shake-up to its usual hosts.

Luxmy announced her return ahead of the broadcast this morning as she posed for a photo alongside Ben, 39, in the BBC Breakfast studio.

As she shared the snap on her Twitter page, which saw the presenter sport a chic yellow and blue striped patterned dress, Luxmy wrote: "Rise and shine sleeping beauties! Good morning from a reflective @BBCBreakfast studio with me &@BenMBoulos", referencing the view of her's and Ben reflection in the studio's table, which can been seen in the image.

Her return was soon met with praise by viewers as one fan tweeted: "How nice to see Luxmy & a fellow Essex boy on the sofa this morning…as I said to my pooches this morning there’s only one thing better than waking up to Luxmy on the telly and that’s…her boyfriend is one lucky fella, both barked in agreement…true story".

"Good morning luxmy hope you are well great to see you back presenting bbc breakfast alongside ben have a lovely day take care xx," another added.

And a third agreed with: "Wonderful to see you this morning Luxmy, a rare treat for us down south, doing a marvelous job as always xxx".

"Good morning. Top team on the big red sofa this morning," another penned alongside a high five emoji.

During the programme, Luxmy had a playful exchange with BBC Breakfast's sports host Hugh Ferris.

The presenter jokingly took over a weather segment during this morning's programme as he began discussing the weather during his slot.

Hugh then made a joke about taking fellow presenter Louise Lear's role as he said: "I get the impress, Luxmy and Ben, I'll be doing as much weather as Louise, who's actually providing us with more accurate weather so I'll let her do her job a little bit better then I am."

Luxmy then joked: "Look at that, two jobs Hugh. You're not going to get the pay for both of them though, sorry!"
